started drawing the plans for the tail feathers.
this will be a fun bit to build.
both the biplane elevators and the twin rudders are flying ones.
ie: all of the horizontal stab and vertical stab have to move.

vertical stabs under construction.
i need to sand them to aerofoil section now.

then we can start on the horizontal stabs, they will be built the same way so that when covered they look like the real ones.

still trying to work out how to do the moving. :S

What do you use for cutting those squares out of the centre of the formers?
I'm just curious if you have a suitable modellers power tool or is it just care with a craft knife?

Pol.

spent today so far drawing up the wing plans.
the wings will be in 3 parts to aid with storage and posting to garry.:cheer:

center section will be fixed to the fuselage as it contains all the engines, with just the tips being removable.

pic of the drawings i got from brooklands museum.

had a final measure up of the wingspan from my drawings and it will be 68"

i must look at how to build some machine guns and figures as well.

Dont you do the clamp and sand method blooper or were the ribs all different in size. hows that all moving tail going. got it sorted , or still looking for ideas.
I see the planes tail is alot smaller than i thought so my idea or carbon tubes inside one another wont work..
Coming on good blooper .

How does the tail move Bloop? Do the rudders move independantly of the elevators? Or is it a box kite kind of structure that all moves?

Do it now, you may never get another chance

the horizontal stabs move up and down and the vertical stabs move independently of them.
its not a huge tail when you look at it.
its on hold for a while to give me time to work out how to do it.

back to wing rib cutting today.

center section of the lower wing.

cut the bottom off of the fuselage and test fit.

with the top of the leading edge butting up to the longeron and the rear spar level with the floor it is in the exact right incidence.
i had to cut out 1 section of spar to clear a longeron.

now i need to build up the leading and trailing edges add the diagonals, bracing for engine and wheel mounts, connectors for the wire rigging.
then it can be slotted in place temporarily until i am ready for covering.

phew another bit nearly done.:cheer:
