Phoenix - Connection Issues / Can't see some users

Windows 7, AVG internet and Firewall - firewall opened manually for Pheonix, Two routers ports opened manually for Phoenix on both, so don't need to use the ports open auto setting in Phoenix.
On O2 for broadband.

For info, Blue has the above operating system and AV Firewall, has a Linksys router with ports opened manually for Phoenix. Blue is on Virgin.
I can never see Blue in Phoenix.

Think your right there, I did not get round to manually set the AVG firewall settings on Blue's PC. This could very well be the issue.

Not being a comp buff, i may be right off on this one, but why is it that Blue and Whis can never get on to a session I open, when Eric Tony Mike and Pol can. And why cant BB get on anything ??

Hi all,

I thought I would post a little how-to guide on opening router/hub ports which helps Phoenix work online right, even if it appears that it is working ok.


Visit the following link for instructions on how to open the ports on your router/hub:

Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model - PortForward.com

Click on your listed router/hub make and model.

If a advert appears at the next step skip the advert by clicking the link at the top right.

Select Phoenix RC found under "P".

Follow the instructions listed.


So for example for the Linksys WRT54GXv2 router I found this page on how to open Phoenix RC's ports:

The ports that Phoenix uses are UDP PORTS 26500 - 26505

Make sure this port range is forwarded to your computer that you use Phoenix on - with the static IP address assigned as instructed above.

You also want to check that Phoenix RC is allowed on any Firewall program that you have, Windows Firewall and most by default should ask when you launch the program for the first time, you need to check "Allow Access".

Windows XP (scroll down to "Advanced users method 1: Enable programs by using Windows Firewall"):
Windows Firewall may block some programs from communicating over the Internet after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2


Please check that you have the latest Phoenix version, as 2.5 and below are no longer supported online.

Launch Phoenix RC and click Multiplayer > Go Online.

You will then be presented with a log-in box, please make sure that the box "Automatically open ports on my router" is selected and checked, please see the picture below.



Even after doing the above port opening this checkbox is often required and often it does not perform the same as the above instructions.

I have found I cannot join sessions that are diffrent versions 3.0 vs 4.0, I am not sure which I have at this moment but I will post it as soon as I find out. I hope this post may help

yes 4.0 is my current version

Is it 4.0 or 4.0k Walrus. You can set it to update automatically.
