its getting bigger wheels sir, don't worry about that.

well i took a deep breath and tackled the wing bandage.

i had some 30min zap epoxy so the job was done using that.

Far easier than i thought it was going to be.



underside first.

the bump is where the servo wires come out.

then i did the top.



waiting for the covering to turn up next so i can finish the wing off.

painted the nose cone.



then i fitted the rudder and elevator servos into the fuselage.



we are getting there at last. yay

Nit picking I know Tony , but I always install my servos so that the output arms are not in line . Just saves the possibility of clashing of connections. Other than that, well done young man

i can always turn one round, but have never had a problem before......................yet

i am building it exactly as per the instructions so it gets a proper test.

As this is a" review" as such , I feel your decision to follow the instructions is the right one Tony

today i made the wing dowels fit.
then i had a coffee and stuck some sheer webs to the shackleton wing.
after slurping the coffee i sorted the elevator and rudder controls, they work now.
then i sorted the wing bolts.


while having another coffee the door bell went and my covering had turned up. soooooooooooooooooooooo

After many hours of swearing and cursing we have a covered wing.






So as it is supposed to be raining tomorrow i will get the aileron servo's connected up and make up the battery hatch cover and it will be ready for flying.

ailerons all working (not happy with using the covering as a hinge though, might change it after the maiden)
set some down and side thrust to the motor, fitted a spinner.
just got the battery hatch cover to sort and set the cog and its done.

About the wing bandage, Eric is correct, your wing, being thick, will prob be ok, BUT! Don't sand the edge of the glass, or you could well inadverantly sand the veneer, or balsa, When I have glassed a wing centre, I do the glass 25mm wide, and double the thickness of the wing saddle to spread the load, The glass is there to reinforce the centre section, not the wing in general

i have tried to keep the build exactly as per the build instructions as it is a beta test.
that way i can report any problems accurately when built and flown.

well it flew at the fly in.
got it trimmed out and it flies very well, not brave enough to try it on full rates yet. it will take time for me to master it.
it is very hard to slow down on approach as i found out to my cost, came in low over the long grass, shut the throttle in the same place as i did with the barnstormer but it just kept on going.
was 4ft off the ground as it cleared the edge of the long grass and 50 yards later it was still at 2 ft when it came to the end of the runway.it got dumped in the long grass and broke a prop. ho hum.
needs flapperons setting up before i try it again i think.

Well, I took on Tony's Nemesis a couple of months ago and today, had my first flying session with it.

Two flights showed up that the ailerons and elevators were far too sensitive and the rudder not sensitive enough. Changing the LiPo was a bit of a faff as I had to remove the wing each time (longer leads will sort that one!) and the wheels were a bit small for our grass strip. The LiPo was also a bit warm after flight, and as I hadn't thrashed the model at all, it'll need some cooling holes before I fly again. However, on the other hand, the colour scheme was perfect, with good conspicuity of the model throughout both flights. The stall was pretty benign too, although she tended to drop the left wing during accelerated stalls but recovery was immediate on releasing the sticks.

Tony's right about the landing handling - she does tend to float, but there's no hint of a stall even at quite high angles of attack. With appropriate adjustments, I'll have the perfect flying machine to get me back up to speed with RC!
