covered the rudder and elevators today.
need to sort out the pull pull cables and then re hinge them.

made up and fitted new wing mounting blocks, they are gluing now.

want to make the servo tray and battery tray next, then i can think about making the nose.

thinking about a full cockpit as well.

easier to paint them now before i hinge them on.

well i had another look at it this morning and the fuselage is twisted.
i should have checked better before i re covered it. twit.
so i have had to cut the tail off and will try to straighten it out, if it won't then it is bin time i think. not going to waste too much time on it.
shame really, i rather fancied a big hurricane for me.

how bad is it? apart from a loop, it wont make any differance to its flying, and once you know what it will do in the loop, rudder can be used to control this

Let me know what you decide Tony,will put the panels back in box if they are not required. Not a problem mate if you still want them.

give us a level shot from the back Tony, dont junk it yet, i flew a DB spitifre once on a test flight, i emntioned it screwed out of loops, the builder casually said, oh, that will be the effect of the tail being skew wiff, apart from that, it flew very very well

right i think i have sorted it now, just about.

i cut the tailplane off of the fuselage and trimmed the high side down and then re attached the tailplane.
jigged it solid and had a good measure while the epoxy started to harden.

it is now 3mm out of skew when viewed from behind (instead of 20mm) and 2.5mm out of line to the fuselage sides.

my only problem now is that the stern post is not vertical, the fin is though.
so my plan when it is all set will be to slot the rudder in place and build up one side and sand down the other until it is all looking square.

then i can re cover the tail end and hide any rough joints under the tail fairing.

phew, we are back on track again.

When i was covering my hurricane, years ago, i found nylon and dope was the way forward, if you grip the tail, does it twist easily? even doping the tex will make it stiffer, (its something we do all the time ) press on my good man, press on,

tail is back on and the tail fairing started.

Son is down your way this week Tony,he says it will be a stopover in London but will not know until tomorrow whether it will be Tues & Wed or Wed & Thurs,sooooooooo it will either be Cobham on Wed or Thurs,I have stuck label on package with your home number and mob. hope this doesn't inconvenience you too much mate

if i had 4 stroke money it might have ended up with one.
but £25 for a motor and £18 for an esc is a lot less money than a 4 stroke. sorry.

Ah but think what grief has been saved with the wings,and they are nowt,so swings and bloody roundabouts mate
It will look great whatever way you go.
