Strange logic - you have a knob on the top to alter the flap setting, and a switch to turn the knob on or off - AND a dip switch inside the battery hatch to turn the switch on and off!

I excavated my ancient old 35 meg Skysport 6 (I can't recall just when I got it, but it was when we were moving from 27, so it must be 30 years old, or more). I can't recall ever using it, as I moved to the 'new' 459 Mhz UHF frequencies, to get around the queue for the 'peg'.
It has two switches and a knob on the front face, marked trainer and dr. On the very top edge is a two position un-named toggle, (channel 5?). On the right is a knob marked ch 6, and next to that two inset presets marked dr, and elv and ail.
Bottom right , under a sliding window, are two presets marked with numbers around, and labelled lo and hi. Below that, still under the wndow, are a bank of six dips, numbered but not identified.
On the back of the case is a round 5 pin DIN socket - presumably for a buddy lead.
Inside the battery hatch, it was obviously originally intended for disposable cells, as the case has the orientation embossed, but no connections, with an odd-shaped hole that allows the circuit-board to be visible - probably where the nicad plugged in, but I can't see any pins inside.
Does it still work? Not a clue, no battery, and no reciever to match it either!

As you say rather a strange set up. I suppose the apparently redundant dip switch allows the other dip switch controlled mix functions to be selected. Flaperons (logical enough), Throttle AST(Adjust Servo Travel) and rudder AST .A travel adjust is valid for an IC throttle but Is it so critical for a Rudder?
With no model memory it does rather mean that if any of these "mix" settings are used it becomes a "one plane" transmitter!
About the best feature of the Skysport 6A is it has been absolutely rock solid despite it age It is even happy with a 2s LiPo 2200mAh "transmitter" pack (8.4V) rather then the intended 5 cell (6V) NiCd pack.
On the Tx underside is a rather tatty Ripmax label and serial number. The original Futaba "embossed" serial number is no longer discernible.
It obviously dates from a time when Ripmax were the sole UK importers of Futaba RC gear. It was sold under the Ripmax Futaba brand name.

We used to set different models up so that the mechanical trims were all the same, so the transmitter setting worked them all. It's a bit of a lost art, now, trimming a model so it flies straight without control inputs! But then - sets were so (comparatively) expensive we usually only had one or two rx's, and a couple of spare servos - so didn't swap around between different models very much!

Mine is also Ripmax/Futaba T6YG, 392404 and I can just read the embossed sticky label that shows 1 121555? and made in Taiwan. The battery space has room for eight AA cells.
Looking in the back with a torch, I can see where the (nicad?) battery plugged in, down in a hole in the board.

I too set my 35 meg planes trim to be at least acceptably constant between planes. Where the problems arise is if you set any of the predetermined mixes like "V tail", Delta or Flaperons. At least the Elevator/Flap mix has its own dedicated switch on the transmitter but the others do not so you have to remember to alter the appropriate dip switch under the battery hatch. Which why I don't use any of these mixes!
Anyway the new Lemon 2.4 Rx is now installed in the cockpit. It does make it rather congested.
The Lemon has a rather long aerial which is lead back to under the wing to keep the important bit as far away as possible from everything..
Almost impossible to see against the white EPO hence I added the red marks..
I did manage to fly it this morning but the wind was rather too strong for it so I did not dare test the flap elevator mix but as I hoped the Lemon Rx had no problem with range using the Hobbyking transmitter.
The field is "wellingtons only" and the car park is more puddle area than gravel!
Roll on some kinder weather.

For a brief period at about 2.30 pm today it was all over high cloud and a fairly light wind.
I took the opportunity to fly the Flap FX707 and actually test the elevator/flap mix. Stage 1 is 20% down flap with 20% down elevator. Stage 2 is 40% down flap with 40% down elevator.
To my surprise once flying at reduced throttle straight and level applying stage 1 had no effect on the trim, it just flew a bit slower, The effect was similar with stage 2 but it allowed it to fly a bit slower still.
I even cycled the flaps a few times. It only showed a modest 'sink'' when the flaps were retracted.
The ratio of the flap elevator mix was entirely a guess! The next step is to make each flap stage more severe. set stage 1 to what is now stage 2 and the new stage 2 to say 80% flap and 50% down elevator.
The only issue is my field is almost unflyable.. Some is under water and 90% is just deep soft squelchy mud. Today I was careful to launch and land in the tiny area that is "firm" under foot as it just that bit higher than the rest of the field. At the moment only the hardiest dog walkers go round it.
A sharp frost might harden the mud but with frozen footmarks the chances of landing damage to any plane would be pretty high..
There is yet more wind and rain due this week!

Come to our field in Daresbury, Simon!
Plenty of room, hard-stand parking and access lane, no dog walkers or footballers, normally no sheep! We have a cabin to hide in when necessary, a heater, and a kettle. Set-up tables to put your 'junk' on. (behave!) Bring your own water and milk, but we supply sugar, coffee, tea - in the cabin.
