pmsl @ Simon, nope am drawing a blank too- only one I could come up with was like Eric, a Fieseler Fi 156 Storch- googling added with " strange sticky out bit under fusalage" didn't help either ! :woohoo: :woohoo: stumped, but I never give up

ps "big flaps, drooped ailerons" came up with some VERY strange websites, not necessarily aeroplane related!

I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum.
Cos how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum?!

OK!
Clearly similar to the Fieseler Storch so if you look that up in Wikipedia there is a list of comparable planes. it doesn't take long to identify it as a Messerschmitt Bf 163 built in 1935 to meet the same specification as the Storch.
Heavier and more complex with area increasing Fowler flaps and retractable leading edge slats, it even had variable wing incidence!

I had to doctor the pics as the German registration and the Swastika on the tail would have rather given it away!

Now adjustable wing incidence would be an interesting challenge.

Try this one

It may not be quite so easy to find but if you persevere. ;)

An interesting fact - It holds a unique record for the nation that built it.

rofl yup, put it this way- am mid way cleaning house, researching the liverpool care pathway, making dinner ....and am on here now reading up on rubber motor planes haha! When my OCD kicks in badly it can be a bit of a pain, I can end up with about 50 pages of internet going following on from each other and usually ending up at something completely different to what I started with!! :(

Will start looking for this plane after the above is finished... those are hugeeeeeeeee wings! or is it just the angle of the shot?

The nose profile and wing plan-form give it away - it's a one-off ultra-high altitude Spit, built for PR work.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

The earlier Fairey Long Range monoplane had a similar layout and gained a distance record for the RAF.

So you know roughly what to look for! ;)
