Futura take off crash was created by DominicM
We all learnt a few things from this one. First...always full power test the model before take off...and then there's the turning into wind with insufficient height. We've all done it...but even experienced pilots occassionally get it wrong. Sad to see but good lessons to be learnt from this one. It'll change my prep and thinking on what to do in this situation.

There is nothing like a dream to create the future.
Electrickery is the work of the devil.

From what I can see on the video, it looks to me that the turbine flamed out just before the turn and the model just fell out of the sky, I came to this conclusion because there was a puff of smoke just before it happened.

The engine never reached full power. A simple ground test would have shown something was wrong but unfortunatley the pilot didn't do that. I think these days a lot of us are guilty of not doing it because we mostly fly electric and there is no need. With IC and jets it's a must. This jet is repairable but its not going to be cheap and will take sometime. The engine had come back from a rebuild. Great shame...because it was a joy to watch this guy fly it early last year and improve with every flight.
