And someday, i will get the picture malarky sorted, but, until then, click on the bloody thing, this is Jonesys 144inch Dakota, coming to life for the first time, it was down the field last week for engine setting up, range checks, and a taxi round, he didnt stop grinning all affternoon, this is his 2nd big twin, the first, a120inch B25 bit the dust after pilot error, but, he is building another, Dave has also built for the Dawn Patrol, he is pretty good at it, mates rates, of coarse, on the stocks for me is a 110inch FW190D-9 and maybe a 1/3rd scale Balsa USA Fokker DR1, he likes to keep busy, does our Dave,

That is really nice! Good luck to him on the maiden flight of it! Would it be possible to have a video or picture of it's maiden? (or is that unlucky.. hmm)

Seems like you are a bit of a giant scale fan Alan? Looking forward to seeing some pictures of that FW190 once it is built if possible please? A member of the club I am at has a giant scale FW190, about the same size as the one you are having built, they are awesome machines, probably up there with my fav aircraft of all time. What engine are you planning on having in it? :blink:

YEP, scale all the way for me Tom, anything else is a wot 4, the big 190 will be having a 3W 80 under the bonnet, with a differant igntion, for the mini plugs and inserts i will have to use to get the motor cowled, early days yet, i have to make the retracts first!!! and the scale wheels, etc etc,

model will now be finished ready for flight, the fibre glass nose and cockpit will be simply taped on, all systems will be checked and double checked, balance will be done, then, commit to flight, she is to be finished as a wartime Dakota, no 16, from Band of Brothers, fully weathered, invasion striped, and she will look beutifull, we have plans to build a similar scale Horsa glider end of next year, if all goes well, i am trying to get Dave to equip it with 12 action men,to chute out, good, eh?

Well, this model has flown, but in primer, first flight was nearly the last!! but it ended up doing its over 20kg flights in 1 day at the elvington show on warm up friday, 1st flight, we all forgot to lock tite the aileron servo horn screws, we lost them on the 1st circuit, lesson learned, Dave J got it down about half a mile away, with only a grazed wingtip, at one stage, it was knife edge, with no aileron control, scary, anyway, she is now in paint, and detail,

Good to here it was landed successfully after such a mishap.
