On the subject of fans (not the soccer type) try an armature winders, they have them in a large range of sizes.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

Progress on the nacelles, with the rear profile blocks tacked on, finally found a home for some balsa blocks bought yrs ago, they where shaped, removed and hollowed out, they are a bit rough at the moment, but full sanding will be down later'
The wing undershape was built with a slanting rear edge, to accomadate the flap folding
Cheers all

I have been doing a lot of fiddly stuff on the nacelles and fuz with not much to show, but I have managed to "turn down" some 8 mm dowel for the cannons, as one would expect, the first one isn't so hot ( short one) it will be done again, they will be removable via a 3mm bolt and a "blind nut", Hopefully if the model noses over on landing, the nose will pop off due to the magnets  but I can always replace them if required.
Now the next hard bit is to drill though the nose block square, vertically and horizontally, I have drill press so that will help some
Cheers
Barry

Are you sure the flush rivets are actually visible under the camouflage paint?
You cant see any rivet lines in this picture
The DZUS fasteners for the removable panels are clearly visible though..

Change of plans:- after playing around with mounting the cannons and nose block, trying to get all the cannons equally distance and all at the correct angle, is just not working, I've decided to make 2 nose blocks:- 1 with the cannons glued in place ( for show ) and the other a blank test flight nose. [badass] :) :) :) :) B)

Dzus fastener - a quarter-turn, self-locking, quick release twist-lock.
On aircraft, the head is flush with the skin, and has a screwdriver slot.
The other end is a bayonet like T, which locates in a matching socket.

Hi One Tenor, the fans where on my list to fit, but I have been informed that they are really not necessary, if I have a cut out in the cowling and open up the exhaust shrouds. I tried one as an experiment but with the location of esc, space was very tight, so I'm happy not to fit fans, + computer fans generally are 12v and that would require an extra battery.

Eric, you are correct that flush rivets are not obvious, but I will add them around the fin sheeting, at 1/7 scale 1.5mm rivets ( 10 mm full size) would be almost invisible, I 'll work on 2.5 mm Dzus fasteners for the cowlings and forward fuz sheeting, I would guess the size of the heads would be appox 15 - 20mm full size so I'll burn in 2.5 mm rings using the soldering iron method. they will hardly be seen even that size

Another form of Dzus fastener is like rivet with a bullet nose, just behind the tip is a slot cut on a diagonal towards the tip and going about half way through. The other end is a plate with a hole in . Across this hole is a spring wire. To secure the panel the panel is closed and the bullet shapes enter the holes touching the wires which align with the panel edges. The fitter aligns the screwdriver slot also with the panel edge with a big screwdriver and thumps the handle sharply. This forces the nose past the wire and the slot engages the wire. If not the slot in the head is turned 90 degrees and thumped again . Takes ages to describe moments to do.

Google Old Aircraft fasteners and click on Images for Old aircraft fasteners, and scroll;; down til you come to the German markings in the second column , On the left of that is the fastener I described. Further up /back in one of the central columns is another variant with diagonal slots going up from the slotted bottom of the rivet. Yet another had a straight cut up a hollow rivet at the top of the slot is a half circle /hole which engages the spring wire when turned 1/4 turn. Have a look closely at the pics as it may be possible to come up with a miniature copy

Most of the time spent now is to the finishing of the bird, not a lot to show as sanding, filling and sanding over and over, then the colour. Deluxe Adesives will be used to glue down the thin f/g, and so the process goes on and on
Till next cheers
