After another look at your pictures Simon I realise that I've fitted the axle support upsidedown.:( I never realised that the axles hinge up from the centre, not down.
A bit more painting.

Then it's time to use the thinned sprue to lock the rigging threads.

Working at this size is painful, the only way is to rest my wrists on the table, once my fingers start to shake it's time to walk away!

Some cockpit detail

Fuselage together.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

The guns.

The instructions call for Khaki green, I've never heard of such a colour, from the Box art, this should be about right.

Somehow I jumped to fitting the lower wing, the undercarriage is now on.

Making sure the struts are straight

Khaki green is browner than olive green. but greener than brown! (Thought that would be helpful!) :woohoo:

Just a Camel picture for you.

Any chance of this cockpit detail! :woohoo:

The game Rise of Flight where these screen dump images came from is not quite up to Microsoft Flight Simulator standards as the gauges don't move when you start the engine.
Not forgetting the neat little wind driven air pump on the starboard rear cabane strut that pressurises the fuel tank.

Now that does go round in the slipstream. ;)

This is the position of the aileron horn

And the fuselage struts being kept the right distance apart.

Showing the upper wing and tail.

Threading the rigging, I found the best way was to pull the thread around the strut and then put a dab of Cyano on before cutting off the loose end with a scalpel.

The rigging here is nice and tight, then the temperature dropped and the humidity went through the roof!

Control rigging for the lower aileron,

A bit more detail showing the connection between the ailerons.

And the upper aileron.

With this amount of aileron it's not hard to see why the Germans found them difficult to catch!

I had a lot of problems with the water slide transfers, they don't blend with the rib detail very well. I would have thought the industry would have found a better alternative.
Rigging the tail, I'm really looking forward to replicating this on the flying model, NOT.

Some of the transfers were an eye opener!

This is what happened with the change in temperature and humidity.

I was so disappointed.
Another picture of the level of detail.

I'm hoping this model will give me all the detail necessary for the flying model, the kit has actually arrived, yipee.

I fear the problem with transfers is that like many plastic kits the rib detail is grossly over emphasised for effect.
The topside of the Camel at the RAF Museum Hendon.

When you see the curvature of even the wing top surface the 'dip' between each will be very modest.

It is most marked on the leading edge but there are many extra riblets to counter it.
The underside is even smoother with really only the tape reinforcement marking the surface.

Note on the tail plane the internal structure has virtually no impression on the fabric surface!

If only the surface had been moulded to scale the water slide transfers would be no problem. ;)

Klippy, not sure if you can get it but "decal fix" works a treat in settling decals to the surface, it also reduces the silvering.
A coat of satin varnish once it's finished blends it all in nicely.

balsa is best.

I agree with Paul on the decal set, i used to use it on my HO locos as i painted them in my own free lance road, it sets the decal right down that you can hardly see its a decal
