This is an interesting link, John, that may promote some extended debate. I was taught by my toolmaker father to mistrust cheap tools and I have to say that, from personal experience, he was right. Cheap tools have never been worth it.
My Badger airbrush was purchased in the mid 80s for around £100 and has been giving good service ever since. £17.50 appears to be too cheap for such a precision instrument. In other words, if it appears to be too good to be true, then it probably isn't.
On the other hand, it may just be a bargain waiting to be had...I'd be interest to hear from anyone who has bought one and tried it out.

There were loads more on that site if you scroll down. Various prices but still seeming bargains. You are right on the whole about paying for value but it might be interesting to see if any of them were really bargains. I haven't had a lot of experience with airbrushes to be able to tell. What would I look for ? BTW there is an even cheaper one at £ 15.99. I must admit they look alright and am very tempted by one or other .

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

For a start, make sure you can get spare 'pots' and needles!
If you have a damaged needle, you will be plagued by paint splatter, instead of mist. The needle is so fine that it is easily bent.
You probably already know, but you MUST strip the gun down completely after each use, and thoroughly clean it, or you end up with layers of paint in the spray-bar and tubing, which soon clogs up. Also don't waste your time with aerosol pressure cans, you need a smoothed - controllable - compressor with a reservoir and water traps.
