I think you'll find that jobs in clubs get circulated and after a few years just don't get done properly! In a different vein, the Gliding club to which I belonged only accepted membership applications from people who took the trouble to visit the club over a period of time and got to know the members. It could be that the club you would like to join want to see you first and see if they like you!
Not what you want to hear, I know, I'm just putting the other side of the argument.

Warrington is probably too far out for you, but if interested, have a look at - www.halton-and-district-mfc.co.uk/

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Do the Halton site pictures need an update?

I does make you wonder about a club that actively discourages people from making a visit unless of course they have some particular site access issues.

Update the site pic's. Probably, Simon, but that's out of my hands!

Max - our site is awkward to get to, until you know where it is. You have to get through two locked gates. The outer one to keep the public out, the inner one to keep the sheep in!
If you decide to visit, you need to either wait by the gate until someone lets you in, or have made prior arrangements to be let in. As a member, of course, you will be given the gate codes!
We had the AGM tonight.
Fees for next year are £123, inc BMFA, and a cabin key. There is a joining fee on top, but that's a one-off, of course.
That might sound a lot, but for that you get a good flat well-drained mown field, a cabin with bottle-gas, coffee, tea, sugar, etc (bring your own water), 7 days a week flying 1000 to dark (or later if you can fly in the dark!), gliders, i/c, electric, turbine, rotary tops, quads, fpv if that's your 'thing', good company, tuition if you want it - on your own model or the club trainers. Good access, hard-stand for parking, no paddling in mud, crash barriers, picnic tables, loads of chairs, Fuel if you want it - (extra, of course!) and sheep poo on your feet! (That's free!)

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Just shows, you only get what you pay for! From what I've seen from vids, Erics site is superb.
Something just popped into my brain cell, in 2014 I visited Paul Heckles for some lessons. They were frantically digging trenches around the flying site because 'new age travelers' had been seen in the area, and once they've moved in they're practically impossible to get rid of!
I imagine all flying sites have the same potential risk, and it's just not wise to be too well advertised.

I'm sure I've put this short clip on before, but I can't find it! We've done a lot more work since then.
