As far as I can see, there is a wooden load-bearing inverted U shape that the dowels pass through inside the canopy - at 2.55. It is not easy to see, and the inside of the canopy is only VERY briefly visible.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

This last video shows it exactly.
From about 2:11 to 2:14
The bottom edge of the canopy overlaps the 1/8thx1/16th stringer.

The canopy with two lines drawn on the potential cut lines with a piece of balsa showing how I think the canopy overlaps the stringer.
So that makes the lower black line the cut-line for the sides, then at the front & back initialy I will extend this right round the canopy. Then by trial fitting work out how much to cut back to give some overlap on the frame.

this instruction sheet shows the wing dowels

By the way there are no securing bands - the wings are fixed.

I've got to go out.

to glue those dowels to the inner upper support can you sneek in there with one of those long nozzles after the canopy is
on? maybe from the side or the bottom?

I see, said the blind man! So the dowels are also the wing joiners, which just plug on sideways. There must be SOMETHING holding them in, or any stresses will just crumple or tear the canopy.

The cut-outs for the dowels on the first wing rib are far too close to the top edge & as soon as they are released from the balsa sheet they just snap. I've used some sticky tape on the back to try to hold them together but they still have no strength & would never support the dowels.
So I've cut new ones out of 1/8th balsa & added a filler to support them.
The top inside corner join would also be too weak.

I've inked the edges of the formers & dotted the dimples which are supposed to mark the positions of the dowels through the canopy.
Once I've got the wings built I'll work out the best way to mount them. I don't think the formers have enough strength either. When the fuselage is covered this will give it more strength & maybe I can glue doublers & the combination of canopy & formers will be enough.
I'll probably fix the wings to the canopy then drop the assemply onto the gluedformers.

I DID say I could see a U shaped bracket inside the canopy!

Is that a bracket or a breakout?

The Dumas Lysander is on hold at the moment.
I ordered some dope on ebay & it seems to have got stuck in Bristol since last tuesday.
I've also ordered a cheap (very!) Dremel style drill from Aliexpress for drilling through the canopy & wings for the dowelling which is on its way. My pistol drill is too heavy, I wouldn't be able to hold it steady enough & it would probably just shatter everything.
