As I put on Janine's thread, we're all a bit mad anyway, or we wouldn't be doing this daft hobby, BB!
As you've already implied, you don't want to be here in the UK anyway- it's too cold and damp for you, and you don't care if you don't come back,
so go while you can.

I can't recall who wrote it - but they put something like - It is the travelling that matters, and it doesn't matter if you don't get there.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

BB
If my own experience is anything to go by you might find the airport and boarding the plane a bit stressful but the older you get just sitting in a seat for several hours is no problem unlike noisy teenagers and the crying of the really young!
A bit envious of you going on a A380. Don't know how much longer they will be around or that I will ever get the chance to fly in one!

Knowing BB. he's probably in Sydney, wondering where you are!

I remember landing in JoBurg, a seriously long walk to a massive hall with a seriously long queue.  The passport staff actually were quite efficient and that might have been somewhat less than an hour (lots of flights arriving at about the same time).  Baggage was less efficient.

The horror was going through the glass doors into the 'public arrivals hall' and not finding Tony. And, of course, our phones did not work because of a roaming glitch. Stood around for a bit in rather a mental black hole and then Tony come bounding up (they expected that the system would hold us for quite a few hours).

Hope that there has been a meeting.....

Perhaps Klippy's broadband has gone off again?

Right, well, due to a misunderstanding on my part I needn't have gone to the airport in the morning because the Manchester flight was late arriving, therefore late taking off and BB missed his connection in Doha! I went back to sissy's place kicked my heels for several hours and then went back to the airport. His flight landed at 15:35 local time and he finally came through at about 16:30! The arrival of his baggage alerted me.

Mary was freaking out by this time and insisted that we drive back to Hooikraal immediately, after all the poor chap had only been traveling for 36 hours.!
We finally arrived at Hooikraal at 20:35 local time, Tony almost immediately went off to bed to be seen again at 10:30 this morning

Good to see those two boxes! Now what we want is to see a sequence of photos over the next weeks of the box contents transform into beasties and workbenches and then into the air.

Tony was later seen unpacking boxes, however a storm was brewing so everything had to be moved inside, pdq.

Before the storm hit Tony went off to sleep and missed the 10mm of stair rod rain!

I definitely agree with that.  I was up early when it was still dark on a Saturday to go flying and it didn't happen because its too windy.  You must be really mad or really passionate about this hobby.  After today does that qualify me as mad too?

If your photo is anything to go by you will find the "dose of madness" gets more obtrusive as you get older.
As I was trudging to my field all wrapped up on a cold grey damp morning this January and carrying a plane some workmen engaged in digging a hole in the road said "You not going to fly that are you!". "Certainly" I replied but the tone of their comment rather suggested I was completely barmy and thinking about it they were probably right!

Are you saying I already look mad enough?

Tony is no longer cold although it is cool by our standards.
He only had 2 hrs sleep last night he tells me, he wandered around this morning, I helped him Bind a receiver and then he's gone back to bed.
I battled with his X7, I've never seen such a mickey mouse method of programming models, it took me 5 minutes to switch it on!
Just before he went back to bed he told me the Elevator had stopped working!

Do it now, you may never get another chance
