I know there is currently an issue with inboxes.

I have to make some adjustments to the database.
Please be patient.

I am going to set the new template. If you dont like the new look. Please PM me with a simple answer. That way I can count up the dislikes.

At ModelChat We have a separate website for development.

It is an exact copy of this website. This way I can install new updates and test new systems without causing to much disruption.

I am currently updating the main core of modelchat on this DEV site. If all seems well I will be transferring to here.

I have received numerous reports of members getting permission issues when trying to post.
This is NOT a moderation issue and NOT intentional.

I am currently working on this as a high priority. I wish to know about EVERY failed attempt. If you cannot post in the forum issues thread PLEASE PM me or one of the other mods.

keeps tellin me similar, and wanting a "plugin" whatever the hell that is, seems to have corrected itself in the last 5 mins so will keep eye on it

You shouldn't have been able to post here C.J. : I don't know if Mike unlocked the thread, or if the gremlins did it?

We have had two issues reported recently,

1) Firefox always asking for a plugin even after its been installed.
2) "You do not have permission to post" when post submitted.

I believe the Plugin issue is Firefox related, not ours, and should be a simple fix.
The permission issue I have an idea of the cause but would like to confirm it before publicly commenting. However if i am correct... it is not actually an issue. (more explanation to come.)

I plan to post solutions to these issues. ASAP.

Two things completed last night, I installed and configured the new design last night and made the relevant changes that were requested.
I have also done more work to make the chatroom as mobile friendly as possible. (sarah being my main input for these changes)

You may start noticing small changes around the place. for example. The log in and out buttons have changed to a more modern looking button, sounds silly but it is these minor things that make things easier to use and more attractive on the eyes.

Just advance notice:
Email notifications MAY stop working, I'm trying out some alternative settings.

There may be some downtime over the coming week as hosting is upgraded to their newest packages.
We're currently on the hosting companies old style packages and server. For the same price we can be moved to new, better, faster hardware.

I will be trying my best to keep this downtime to a minimum. When you see the website in 'maintenance mode' you will have to keep checking back in. It is difficult to say how long this move will take because it depends on how busy you lot have been uploading images ect.

You are now on the new server. I am getting better. Website downtime was NIL, forum dowtime was about an 1.5 hours to avoid losing posts.
Why? I take a backup of data on server A, moving it to server B for setup... then someone posts while still connected to server A.
When we go live on server B, the database is then out of date and that post is missing.

The old server database is pointing at the new server.
This means if your computers cache is still loading the old server any posts you make will be added to the new server's database. This means no data loss and minimal downtime.

Images are disabled until tomorrow to allow DNS Cache to update to the new server as images are not stored in the database but on the file system. Once DNS has fully propagated I will enable image uploads... This is usually up to 24 hours.

I dont have to remind members that all this work Mike undertakes is FOC, and he holds down a full time , stressful job, as well as having a wife and a young family.

Image uploads are now enabled.
Everyone should now be pointing fully at the new server. This server is simply an upgrade from our original provider onto their newer hardware.

Thank you everyone for your continued use of this place. It is something I am very proud to have created... and you make it that.
I wouldn't be proud if it had no users now would I?

I am about to start testing an SSL certificate on the here...

You MAY see some error about the site not being secure... it is nothing to worry about. It just means the certificate is wrong.
