Website Updates

Well, That turned out to be a massive pain in the backside (as I'm sure you can see) but ultimately necessary.
We're fully up to date with regards to systems and latest security... problem is, Our old template (forum style) doesn't like it and won't play ball.

For now we're looking weird but we're functional.

I've just had some problems reading posts, I just kept getting Error 404.
One quick phone call to Mike got the problem sorted in a minute or two and all looks good. If anyone has any problems please let us know, but we'll let Mike have a rest for tonight I think. :lol:

Just noticed, the Forum link at the top is the same as the Recent Topics link. Not a big problem but one that may have slipped past you Mike.

I'm getting 404 not found, too. I bypassed it by selecting 'home', then it opened, and then came back to 'recent'.
When I tried to log in, I got a message saying I was not authorized to view this.
Went back to 'home' again, logged in from there, and came back to 'recent' again!
Clumsy, but it works. For reference I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, and Firefox browser.

Private messaging is back online.
In some ways I actually prefer the new look but it's missing a few key interactions that I used to use a lot.

Shame to lose the old look, it was much better. Still getting the 404, getting past it by using Recent Topics. Windows 10 64bit, Google Chrome.

ADMIN. We could do with these links adding to the bottom of the page.

I prefer the old look too but over 2 years of updates have made it incompatible.
I will work towards recreating most of it myself, manually.

What is it about the old look that everyone prefers? Is it the colour, the position of the links, the text size? Etc.
Maybe Mike can use this platform but change individual traits?
In order to post a reply I have to use the Action drop down and select "Reply" .... I have the "Quick Reply" link, but I've never tried that.
The text is too small for me, but is that settings on this comp?
The background GREY is a bit pasty......... I'm a fussy sod aren't I ? :lol:

Hi Pol, I think pos' for you that it is not only the text size that is too small but that it needs a "bolder" text"as this one is a bit "light". On a Tablet or phone it is likely difficult to read.

Can the little Tick for reply box be corrected to it's blank setting? I keep forgetting to "untick" it.

Thank you for you input. This change has been made. All users are now required to tick the box on replying if they would like to be notified of any updates on a thread.

You can change this so it is automatically ticked in your profile settings.

To do this, from the top menu click Profile.
To the right of that page click Edit.
Click the Forum Settings tab.
change Select subscription as default to Yes.

I have also increased the font size of posts and removed the grey background.
It may take time for this change to reach you.

Secondary to this. All subscriptions have now been reset.
