I think you're probably right there, I remember ages back having to tell someone that they have to wait until the pictures have finished loading before they hit the "Submit" button. That could be the problem here?

Pol.

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

Is it really necessary to have the "Do you accept cookies" pop-up - popping up every time we open the forum? Does the system not remember that we have already accepted them?

Hi Eric, yes unfortunately it is necessary since the website uses cookies for many reason like storing your user session data and some preferences like preferred forum display format etc. However, every time, no.

Once accepted it should not show anymore (at least for another year on that browser). The only reason you would keep getting the popup is if you are using private / incognito browsing or if you have cookies disabled. Ironically agreeing yes to cookies actually stores a cookie to state you have accepted.

Thanks
Mike

Has anyone else noticed that the site is getting very slow when you try to 'post' a message.
Just browsing, no problem, but having typed something and pushed 'send' it can take up to a minute to load, and if you get impatient, and push send again, thinking it didn't notice, then you get messages about duplicate posts removed - or duplicated posts!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Hi All, It's that time again where I have to pull my finger out and do some updates etc.

Most if not all will be standard security updates. That should go ahead without a hitch and little to no downtime.
However, there is always a risk and therefore a process I have to follow.
I will need to backup the entire site in case of failure.
I won't be able to state exactly when I will do it as it'll just be within my free time but if you come to the site one evening and find a "site offline" type of message, please check back moments later.

If you see errors and warning then something has gone badly wrong and I will be sweating buckets working on it.
I will either have to "fix-forward" and firefight any issues, attempting to fix post update. If fix forward seems more problematic I may have to "roll-back"
This will be a "point-in-time" roll back to when the backup was taken and it is possible some posts could disappear.

Wish me luck :woohoo:

All in all, its a fairly straight forward process (if things work as they should)

These things rarely go to plan, when I upgraded my 3D printer the first try went wrong and it ended up glaring at me blankly for two days:(

Trying to post something, but keep getting -
Kunena Internal Error: Please enable Kunena Debug Mode and report problem in the www.kunena.org forum.
-
Sorted - there was an embedded smiley that the server didn't like. Deleted it, and back to normal.
