Whoopee - I'm on a roll

Front and rear turret blocks. A lot of carving shaping and sanding to do. Yep - that is a crappy piece of balsa - bought cheap off a boat yard - but it cleans up OK. Scratch builders use raw materials

Now all I need is to find room to hang the bloody thing. The wall is getting a bit crowded

The "railroad" is in the the very early stages BB. Read - "I know bugger all" It is basically yank outline but painted to loosely represent Australian prototypes. As for being "upside down" just imagine how easy it is to fly inverted down here!! :silly:

Very impressive work what was the balsa used for in its former life.

I'm guessing - boat flotation devices. (Stops them diving for the bottom if they fill up!)

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I'm sorry Beard but Sir Eric the Knowledgeable is right again. It was an off cut from balsa used as flotation in fibreglass boats. Nice off cut though - 10" x 6" x 34" - cost me 5 minutes rooting around in an off cuts bin and $AU1.00 to carry it out the door.

Yes Eric I've Knighted you - but it's a colonial knighthood - instead of being dubbed with a sword you get clouted over the head with a Mulga stump.

Well - while I'm not blessed with super speed - nor am I able to complete a model in a single bound I am making progress.

All the contour formers in place - now to start the planking.

the rear fuselage is fairly easy to do - four and a half sheets will wrap the whole thing nicely.

If any one is wondering - I live in a one bedroom flat and my building board is a solid wood door strung across the cupboards in the kitchenette! Yep - I have to take the bloody thing down to make breakfast

Now Poly - all that excitement over the upcoming nuptials has made you impatient. Remember that down here in the darkest reaches of the colonies we have to rely on our own skill and ingenuity, that means no mass produced precut CNC components and each part must be lovingly cut by hand by an ancient skilled craftsman. Each of those parts must then be joined into a harmonious whole which is - of course a - wonderous example of colonial adaptation. In due course - when the alchemists have worked their mysterious wonders a full colour - hand crafted - representation will be mounted for all to behold. In uva wurds I'm wurkin' onit mate - a few more fuselage progress shots to come shortly

Because of the unrelenting pressure applied by the slave drivers on this forum I've spent countless hours, spilled blood and drunk gallons of coffee to bring you all the following pictorial update of work completed so far on my Lancaster. I know my Imperial Masters care not a spit for the health and well being of this poor down trodden colonial but - I will NEVER surrender. :P :P :P :P :P :P
