awww lol lol lol they look so cute! They would make very good furry warm slippers if you get them to lie on your feet whilst you build!
Which one is Eric hahaha?

I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum.
Cos how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum?!

Sarah, he's the one at the front with the Boris Johnson hair style and wearing his pyjamas, they are borne with and without hair, the hairless ones only have hair on their heads, feet and tail thats why we dress them to keep them warm.
She had 6 pups this time all by accident i must say, 3 girls , 3 boys 3 with hair 3 without, we have sold one of the harless all ready. Eric was from the pups last year he is my dog, the only problem with him he thinks he's a German Sheperd
Had this prop turrn up this morning for the Spitfire 24x12 E so i can get it all rigged upon the bench and see what she will do

The sun came out today and the weather warmed up some, i could see the snow on the mountains yesterday when flying that is where the cold wind has been coming from, got down to 7deg brrrrrrr
So today i thought i woud set the motor up and give it a run, never run it yet, i mounted the motor complete with lipo box on my mobile bench to check the thrust
fired it up got to about a quarter throttle and bang everything stopped dead, the prop flew off , thought now what

Took the motor apart and found a grub screw in there, 3m 5/8th of an inch long jammed up against a magnet, done some damage to the magnet
Now i have never seen that screw before and i dont have any, i can only assume it has been in there from the factory
Anyway i put it all back together and ran it, got to 27lbs of thrust on between 1/2 to 3/4 trottle then it cuts out so it must be the 160A ESC thats not big enough, cant check it as my amp meter only go's up to 100a

BB, if you want to experiment a bit, put your 100 amp meter in line again, and open the throttle a click at a time, counting the clicks, until you get to just short of 100 amps on the meter.
Then, after making it all safe, and noting how many clicks, put a piece of thick wire across the meter terminals, a few inches long. (It's called a shunt!)
You will need to experiment a bit to find the exact length, but fiddle about until your previous 100 amps number of clicks now shows 50 amps. Now your meter will read up to 200 amps.

If you were to take the back off the meter, you would find it already has a shunt built in, because the meter will really only be reading milliamps, and all it is showing is the 'leakage' caused by the tiny amount of resistance in the shunt.
By adding a new shunt outside, you will be 'sharing' the load between that and the one inside, thus halving the 'leakage'.
That's as non-technical as I can describe it!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Can I sugest that you attach the scales directly behind the motor so as to be in line with the thrust.

You can suggest anything you like Owen no problem, be a good idea before i try it again as i had to hold the back end down, it has awsome power and sound Owen bit like an IC motor, quite noisey in fact
My luck is still with me ( the bad luck that is ) the wind got up and blew the fuselage of the outside bench and snapped the nose and fin off :( :(

BB, could you not rig some kind of overhead wire? I'm thinking some kind of Pet electric fence wire, it's strong and stainless. Then use some kind of snap link (Carabiner or a dog lead comes to mind) anything you're not currently working on can be snapped on to the wire.

Do it now, you may never get another chance
