I will be using simple hinges as the slot effects do not scale.

I am sure it would be possible to print the whole thing but just printing the simple circular cowling and motor bulkhead will take over 5 hours!
Just a CAD image of the two part cowling at the moment.

The scale (well close) ASh 62 mounted on the bulkhead.
The intention is that the motor cooling air will drawn in around the hub boss, around and through the motor and exit through the bulkhead.
Where it will 'sucked out' by scale cowling gills.
Whilst this bulkhead is the correct diameter it is only a 'test' version to check everything actually fits. The final version will be a bit different to accommodate the substantial exhaust ring !

First test piece.
The nuts (6 and 8 BA) are a tight press fit and in the final version of the bulkhead will be permanently secured with a drop of super glue.

The Mk2 bulkhead.
With front cowling in place.
And the ASh-62 in place.
Just organising the exhaust collector ring. It is pretty big so will just be visible inside the cowling but will not actually be connected to the exhaust stub on the outside!
Bizarrely the air frame will be scaled to match cowling rather than starting off to any specific wing span.:woohoo:
I suppose I had now better get on an actually build it

I'm currently unsupervised. I know it freaks me out as well, but the possibilities are endless!!

I would have done better to have put a smear of glue into the retainer depression before pressing the nut home.
The tile printed fuselage plan.
In my research I discovered that despite the AN 2's size and weight the wings are still only 'pin' jointed to the fuselage meaning all the flying loads are taken by the flying wires.
I had rather assumed with its quite thick wing section they would have been cantilever with the flying wires as a back up.

It is really only 'representative' but I have not yet found a way to do a tapered circular tube in FreeCad. The manual suggests its possible but it refers to menu buttons that I simply don't have! :woohoo:
The exhaust ring looks 'chunky' but it is a hollow single wall tube so only weighs 4 g.
Start cutting the 3 mm Depron for the fuselage tomorrow.
