The LA series of engines where built by OS specifically for control line, I've never owned one but I did manage to coax the old brain cell into remembering the name!

balsa is best.

The OS fx is a better engine. The following is a sort of consensus.

The difference is night and day.

FX: Ball bearing supported crank shaft instead of power robbing bronze bushings on LA
More power!
Twin needle carb for more precision in engine tuning.

LA: Economy engine
Not very powerful because of bushing and restrictive carb throat and engine porting.
Cheap and atypical quality from OS.

If you wish to get a great running engine but don't want to spend the money for an OS FX but like the LA .46 price then you may want to purchase one of these other brand engines; deleted

Have a nice Day, unless I don't like you.

BB, I have the following 46's
2 x OS Max FX, 1 has some damage but not serious the other was in my Thor 40 and has been stripped for cleaning.
2 x Evolution, 1 well used, the other just run in, (I was told!)
1 x New in box ASP, ABC
Tell me what you want!
All of this stuff was bought back in the days when I had a disposable income and bought anything that appeared on the market!

Do it now, you may never get another chance

They're there if you need anything. I remember Mr Sephton used to get his pins from somewhere in Eastern Europe.

Here they are!
Andy Sephton wrote: Thanks OF. They originate in the Czech Republic and are supplied by Flighthook, who'll be at Old Warden if they are trading this year. The pins are quite expensive at around £2.50 a small box (there's four boxes of 'em in my pin container in the pics), but they are fine (they don't split thin balsa) and extremely sharp (they go in a long way before you realise it if you stab yourself, the pain can only be described as exquisite!)

Are these the insect pins on Flitehook's website. If so, which size?
I find the search section quite difficult to use since it will only give 30 results, perhaps Phil could speak to Mike about this? I used the search string 'pins' 'one year ago and older' and 'Free Flight' without the quotes.

Cut out fuselage sides from 3mm balsa with 2mm ply doublers
Added the 3 formers
Built the tail feathers, they need sanding to shape
Added the top block, again needs sanding
Thanks: Phil Wood, Klipkopwildlife, Flytilbroke, Quorneng, old fart
