Smokeless Smoke Generator .

I just spent a pleasant afternoon in the workshop playing around with the talk duster. A mk2 mdified version has now been constructed & fitted. The addition of a tube to the top of the container out through the windscreen, which I hope will give some positive pressure. I'm sure someone will tell if it wont. I have cut the tubes at an angle to hopefully generate positive pressure at the top & negative on the outlet. It seems to work as a bench test ( One end of the workshop is now covered in fine layer of talk) but the acid test will be when it flies As soon as these storms stop I will find out

Well if nothing else, it will make it smell nice.

With regards to using a servo to switch this on and off, I've just been doing a job and I had to go to my Heat Shrink draw. It occurred to me that a length of say 10 - 15mm diameter tubing is soft enough and could easily be squeezed shut against a piece of foam by a servo arm???? .... Plus it tends to spring back open by itself. Would this help or have you figured out a better way that I've missed?

I like your thinking Pol & i'm pretty sure that it would work. Unfortunately on this particular model I realized i'm short of a spare channel ! The gyro gizmo in the RX uses the gear channel for the three flight modes & aux 1 for the panic button. So that's my six gone! For the time being I am going to mess about with tube size & angle of cut. The idea being as the air speed increases it will reach a critical point & start sucking. I hope that makes sense! I will be more than happy if it produces a few puffs during a loop or roll.

Adding a gadget to 'vibrate' the powder to loosen it just might have the opposite effect, my guess is that it will cause the powder to settle rather than keep it loose.

The antennas are still at 90 degrees, you can't see the short one at the front on the photo, which is now vertical up the side of the fuz. The long one has just swapped sides & goes horizontally towards the tail.
Neat Idea with the buzzer. I will try that on a future development. ( see reply to Pol )

I think I may have solved the compacting problem, theoretically !
Use two tubes cut at say 45 degrees, both coming out the bottom of the fuz, one facing forward the other aft. Connect both to opposite sides at the BOTTOM of the container. Not only should it create some circulation but it alleviates the air hole at the top.
Thoughts ?

That's going to take a lot of BIG shakes.

Good idea Klippy! I will have to lock the nose wheel too, as they are connected. Sounds like a good plan though.
With regards to " big shakes" a typical conversation between my flying buddy Stefan & I would be something like;
" Did you just say landing? You do know you're inverted don't you!"
" Really? must need trimming coz it's definitely flying better that way up"
