There was a Harmon Rocket on RCM and E as a prize really would have liked to have won it,but of course someone Ive never heard of did.Then in this months RCM and E there is an article on my beloved Harmon Rocket.To rub salt into the wounds on RCM and E home page theyve included the Harmon Rocket article the PAIN has only been overcome by having the Sparrowhawk as my Christmas build.Unterestingly when I had money and lived in a posh house(this was before the divorce of course)A beautiful Sparrowhawk flew into our Patio window,obviously breaking its neck.There it was laying unmarkrd on the patio and ther was a ghost of itself on the widow where it had collided.I had it stuffed and my son now has it ,its on a branch with its wings open lovely bird

Yippee Ive managed to find a Harmon Rocket and it was a bargain,I picked it up this morning and its a beauty.Owned by an elderly gent who has gone electric but is not well at the moment I travelled to Near Portsmouth and gave them more than the asking price,Phots later.

Ive noticed on this one the gent didnt fit the servos at the rear like my first one.He also has fitted pull pull on the rudder also.Seems like he was a real craftsman as everything is just so.Everything is labelled.its all done very neatly very impressed

Had a yuk feeling day today ,couldnt get in to anything so I went over to my moggie 1000 and tried to organise the mechanic on that he really is slow and hopeless.Came bask home and looked for some parts to a P40 I still didnt find.So I checked over theHarmon Rocket.Replaced the on board batteryand fitted a new switch and receiver.Fitted a new push rod onto the throttle and removing the spinner and prop there wasnt enough thread to hold the prop on,Changed the spinner fitted it all back together and set everything up.Took it into the garden and ran up the engine and tuned it.Sounds a little over propped but it has an 11X6 which should be about right.Dont think the engine has done much so might need a flight or 2 to run it in.It ticks over very nicely and revs up very well.Need to check the throws against the instruction book andthe C of G then its ready for the field.

Before doing the c of G Im removing the pants and fitting larger wheels,makes it earier on out grass strip

I fitted the larger wheels and checked the C of G and seems very nose heavy.Ive put 50 grams on the back and it still seems very nose heavy,not sure why usually Seagull stuff is there or thereabouts.On my original as I stated the servos were at the rear and there could be a reason why seagull did that and the gent even built a shelf and box to keep the battery in but it is at the rear of the compartment.will do some checks with the guys at the field first before flying it.

I really should make the effort to go flying tomorrow and maiden the Harmon Rocket.

Yes your right a proper grown ups engine one you geriatrics shoulnt play with,you keep flying the toys and leave the Mens models to the MEN !!! !!!
