Took the repaired Harmon Rocket to the field with its repacement engine for its first flight since being repaired.Wouldnt start.Stripped the cowl off blew through everything and it was away.Flew superbly and had a good day

I bought 2 engines off E bay and fitted a little used one in the Harmon Rocket.Its a real cracker,starts instantly doesnt need to be touched and is really crisp with loads of power.The 2nd 1 is identical,both SC 52 2 strokes an is brand new.Sounds good when stationary,revs up lovely but a little hesitant but when taking off and giving full power it stops.

I think it might be a Tank problem, try seeing how well it runs on a nearly empty tank.:)

Thankyou lads,I flew it last week ,had the same problem, but once it took off it was perfect ,and no Gary Im going to transfer my Fun cub into something elecriic soon but still love my IC.Bought a brand new in its box Super tigre 45 2 stroke thatll need a home.

First job todat was to Remove the cowl and investigate why the fuel was being restrited.Popped the tank out and could see the clunk had flipped over,so it was astraight forward fix.Had to remove the bung to get it back.Once back in position I blew down the pressure tube to ensure it was all free.Also blew fuel through with the needle valve out just to make sure.

Next time - hold the model - tail down, and give it a good up and down shake. the clunk will usually flop back into place.
For a more permanent fix, next time you have to take the tank out, put a short piece of metal tubing into the clunk to cork line, it's not enough to make it all stiff, but it will stop the clunk moving forwards.
if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

In a model fuel tank it's the short length of fuel tubing inside the tank itself .... it has a weight on the end (The Clunk) so it falls into the fuel no matter which way up the model is.
That way it's always at the "bottom" of the tank.
Because it's a flexible tube it can sometimes fold back on itself & kink ..... stopping the fuel flow.
