Well what an evening that was..... I managed to drag my 8 year old daughter to help set up the venue for the comp tomorrow. This allowed us an hour or so of trimming
You may have seen all that the poor thing has done up til now are flights into soft grass. The thought of lobbing it at a hard sports hall floor had me ful of dread.....
Andy was very supportive and didn't let me ponder this for one second, he helped me select a rubber motor 3 loops of 1/16 rubber 2 x length of the prop - peg x 2 and virtually shoved me to the centre of the court, with the instruction to throw it

Fantastic day today. Got to meet Andy and the lovely Jacqui very tired so no meat in this post. Monz and Andy got some footage of the flights so hopefully I can compile a little movie. Ended up around 18th after static, but with the flying scores counting double, my respectable flights didn't match the very high standards of the rest of the field. So I ended up 25th out of 30. So not last, and certainly didn't let myself down. Must do it again

I'm sure Danny won't mind me posting his last flight on here before he has time to make the full movie. Bottom line is that I felt the flight was pretty good and deserved more marks than it got. However, it's all down to the Judges decision on the day, so there it is.



Notwithstanding, I think Danny deserves a real big pat on the back for his achievement. For someone who said three weeks ago: 'there's not enough time to build a model before the event', he's done a very good impression of the opposite! Spring chicken to shite-hawk in three weeks! Well Done Danny!

PS: A Forum presence at next years Nats would be an outstanding achievement...so how about it? It'll be on 23rd April 2017 at Wolverhampton University Sports Centre....

Coor thanks Andy, that was a better flight than I remembered. Perhaps the bounced landing lost points. You said before that the model passed through its own wake?
Anyway really enjoyed watching that again.... might watch it a few times more really chuffed

Blast, just spent ages typing a large post only for it to go *PFFT* and vanish! Ah well I was only voicing my frustration at not knowing how I could improve my static score, 15th out of 30? I am really not sure how some of the models above me were more accurate to the plan/kit? Probably one of the reasons I shouldn't compete.
Anyway I have cut together footage from Roisin, Andy and Monz into a couple of trimming and competition videos, for those that are interested.

Glad you enjoyed the SE5a. you made a super job of the build, remember kit scale isn't that tight, read the rules if you decide to compete again. I build a lot of the Veron designs but wouldn't dream of using the tissue in the kit!

As an additional note, if I want more climb I tend to use a shorter motor first before going up a width. This has two effects, first the torque is increased, and also the model is marginally lighter. Of course you can't pack in as many winds but duration is not the issue here. Also your turn was tight, a tab on the inboard wing bent down would have opened up the circle and increased the climb....

Another discipline under your belt and one that you will become a master of knowing you.
Would like to apologise for not being able to get there as I told Andy I would try and make it, life got in the way unfortunately, ie having to visit the D i L in the Priory hospital at Edgbaston after serious op, pleased to say all went well.
