I suspect when KK reissued the kit (with colour printing on the box!) it was judged carving a prop would be beyond the capabilities of the target market.

After all most of the 'target' market now expect the plane, no matter how big, to be fully built and finished with just basic 'bolt/clip together' assembly!

What did they expect one to do for a prop then Q ?

As far as I remember there was a 10" plastic rubber prop available from model shops.
Now just £1.05 for 5 from HobbykingUK !

Didn't the re-released KK kits include a plastic prop? Memory seems to say yes

For what it's worth, there's a 9" plastic prop in the kit featured in the above post. I bought it in the mid 1980s.

I've been working on the nose block today, the various stages in reduction are shown below. The fuselage is now ready for covering!

I finished sanding the remainder of the model yesterday and today and late this afternoon, covering commenced:

More covering today. I've done side two on the fin, underfin and tailplane, but as they look the same as they did yesterday, I've not bothered with a photo.

What I do have, though, is photos of the fuselage and wing. My technique on the latter is to do the underside first, starting with the middle panel and working outwards. If the tissue hasn't stuck properly to the under camber, I can get at it from above to rectify the problem. When that's dry, I'll do the top side. I'm using Esaki tissue from SAMS Models and Deluxe Materials Tissue paste. I cover with an oversize piece of tissue and wet the edges with tap water to help them pull down onto the model. When dry, I use a razor blade to trim the tissue to the ribs and sandpaper to trim the leading and trailing edges. The latter leaves a feathered edge which blends nicely with the top surface covering when it's folded over.

Covering complete, I sprayed the model with water to shrink the tissue and pinned down the flying surfaces to dry:



The fuselage was propped up on a handy windowsill..



As soon as the latter had dried, I set about the main UC. Wire was cut and bent to shape, cleaned with wet and dry, bound with fuse wire and soldered:







The flying surfaces will be left to settle overnight., but in the meantime, the fuselage is sitting on it's main gear, albeit without wheels:

I've spray doped the model with non-shrinking dope and pinned down the flat surfaces after they were touch dry.



I'm hoping for first test flights on Friday at the Peterborough Model Flying Clubs Easter Fly-in at Ferry Meadows...... weather permitting, of course!

This one is now ready for test flights, which will be carried out when the weather settles down. I don't need it until early July, so there's plenty of time.





For expediency, I've fitted the plastic prop and wheels supplied in the kit. these will be replaced with balsa version when time permits
