errrr how exactly do you use soda for a filler?

How the bloomin eck are you supposed to pin the formers upright whilst holding a 90 degree angle of wood at the same time???? arrhhh! run out of fingers, and it keeps falling over!
And I have a bouncy fusalage, what is the best way of pinning that to the board so it doesnt keep bouncin up, the balsa is only 4mm thick, dont want to risk splitting it by pinning it directly down through the balsa

A nice collection of blocks of wood with accurate right angle faces are good but I suppose it depends on exactly what you are trying to do.

You have a bouncy fuselage?

The purist will say never pin through the wood but unless you actually have one standing over you how will they ever know?

Lol.yeah as I add a former and curve the fuslage side around it- it pops up!!

Have beaten it, it looks like I have a pin fetish but oh well there are worse!!

formers F3, F5, F4,F6, F7, F8 and F9 all glued, checked to 90 degrees and pinned within an inch of their lives!!

Where on earth are the wing seat doublers? supposed to fit over f3.f4 and f5 but cant find any pics to show me where

Scrap that- found em haha! On the plan rather than in the instructions.

F2 and F9 glued into place

2 x 10.2 cm lengths of 3mm x 3mm balsa cut to form the wing seat doublers across formers F3, F4 and F5
and 2 x 40 cm lengths of 3mm x 3mm cut to form the fuselage top longerons across formers F3-F9
little rascels did keep trying to pop out but am assuming the wee water on your wood effect would work on that too to make it a bit more pliable to bend with the curve
and voila, we now have a very large flat banana shaped fuselage woooooot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it's probably best glued on with contact adhesive.

Holding formers upright - use a bit of scrap wood with a 90 degree corner cut in it. Pin one side to the plan the other to the former.

Pinning fuselage sides - either pin though the side, or use scrap balsa blocks pushed up against the side and pinned to hold the side in position.

Bending balsa - use steam from a kettle to soften it, then bend immediately (or bend it in the flow of steam). It'll spring back a little when it dries, but keep doing it overbending slightly and you'll eventually get the balsa to the shape you want. Mind your fingers, however, steam is hot!

Using baking soda as a filler - fill the hole with soda (or baking powder, or micro balloons, or baby powder), touch some cyano to it and 'POOF!, you'll have an instant filled joint. It'll be a hard filler, though, so it'll need some heavy sanding to smooth it down.

Really great build Sarah very nice and neat, you seem to be progressing through these builds really nicely.
Won't be long until you have a scratch built 1/4 scale warbird on the scale line at the Nats!!
One thing I have been using to help hold ribs, frames etc. at right angles is lego bricks and the more babyish and bigger mega blocks.

PMSL Would rather be a rare bird than an over cooked one!!
