Tail surfaces all glued on, elevators and rudder just need hinging. Plan shows a fixed tail wheel, but I'm thinking it would be better if it was steerable?



Got the nose on and sanded as well. Starting to look like a model now. Not much else I can do on the fuselage, so time to start cutting out some wing ribs.

Off to my folks for a couple of days, so no more building. Did make a start on the ribs.



Photocopied the plan loads of times......but never managed to get rib 10 once

Will have to trace that one by hand.

Bit more progress. Ribs don't seem to match the plan, so a bit of fiddling around.



Hopefully will come off straight. If I built it again I would include some jigging tabs to help line everything up.

Done about as much as I can to this wing.



Need to crack on with the other one so I can get them joined and the rest of the sheeting and cap strips fitted.

Also need to think about the best way to mount the thin wing servo? Ribs are only 3/32 balsa so might put a bit of thin ply either side of the servo bay ribs. Can't decide wether to just put a couple of rails in or to make a plate to glue in which the servo can screw to. Never used these wing mounted servos before. They are really nice....just lots of different ways to mount. I only want the horn sticking out to keep everything flush.

I couldn't agree more! Keeps the linkage direct and simple.

I go one step further and have no hesitation in gluing the servo in under the wing skin.

Looking very nice SImon......and I must say, it looks like a very neat build! I love the finish you've achieved on the fuselage.

I would NEVER glue any servo in, I would rather use servo tape, if you seal the wood or foam with PVA, it will be so secure, it will almost be permanent.

If it was a cheap servo I have glued them in, but these will be mounted. Just need to decide whether to mount in the wing with a cover or mount to the cover an screw to wing. Don't want to over engineer it.

Had 20 mins to myself so got this done.



Gets tricky trying to work around the other wing, but there is no way that joint will ever fail!

with the servos, i would fix to a plate and then screw the plate to the wing.

I always cut a ply frame to fit between the ribs and a ply plate to fit the frame and fix the servo the the plate via hardwood blocks epoxied the the plate

Step daughter is having a birthday sleep over, so will be staying well out of the way. Might get some sheeting done later.
