I've used white table-tennis balls for crash-hats before. Cut a chevron out for the visor, and the job is half-done.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Well John Merrick is dressed.

With seat belts in place but not fixed yet.

He finishes the cockpit off quiet well.

Ok he is not as good as other people could do, but i like him.

He looks good Tony, I for one haven't got the guts to have a go at making one. B) B)

What method do you use to secure the canopy? And will it be the same method to secure the turrets on the Lancaster?

Dean

Somebody called me 'pretentious' the other day.

I nearly choked on my latte.

3rd coat of seal on and drying now.

paint over the weekend with any luck.

found some retracts and oleo legs in china.
£9-00 per retract and £8 per oleo. so i will have to save and order 4 of each ( need some for the sea fury) after christmas.

Been slopping some paint about. :P
Bit of black.

Bit of blue.

Bit of silver.

Need to do the black stripes on the horizontal stab and then flip it over and paint the underside.
Black stripe across the fin and a fully black rudder.

I am not doing a scale paint scheme, just stealing bits from all sorts of mustangs and mashing it all together.

so it will be a generic P-51.

plus it saves buying paint with money i don't have.

Scribbled some panel lines on today and made a start on the markings.

Need to do the black and white invasion stripes under the star next, then weathering and final seal.
After christmas i will get back onto the wing as i need to order the retracts and oleo's from china.

Someone close my mouth for me please aha that looks fantastic! How do you do it Tony? hmmm beyond me, strange what some balsa, paint and hard work can produce!

Who ever owns this is one lucky begger! Are you putting it aside now until after Christmas or are you still pushing on? I will be watching with close eyes either way!

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.

who ever comes up with the right money i expect, though i would like to keep one one day.:P

Can't do much more as i need to sort the retracts in the wing next and i can not afford them till after Christmas.
so it will go on hold and i will get on with something else for now.
