Got on well yesterday, 1xrear cone fitted in 3D, I've got to print one out for r/h side, then I've got to print out the outer.

What sort of 3D printer do you have Mike, there is a couple of peeps on here that use them, must say they do look useful

CR-10
300x300x400 area it works in, much bigger than a lot
£400 from amazon, highly recommend it
I was new to 3D printing, i still can't do as much as I would like to but it's brilliant
There is a guy called Tony Smith (email on request), he is brilliant, he(now) is designing me the nose for the SR, i sent him (via email) and measurements of nose cone, he sends me back a code that only my printer recognises, and, hey presto, the printer makes it
He makes rc parts (for a small fee) for anyone, he also has a printer and can send you parts
It's so much easier, i highly recommend him
Alternatively, if you have the software, and the know how (I haven't) you can produce them yourself

[badass] I have produced some parts like cones and cylinders, but this guy is producing the nose for the SR, dimensions, curves, measuring, that takes some know how

The beauty of it is, if you have a prang and the nose gets damaged, you still have the code to produce another EXACTLY the same
Beware
The measurements and plans have to be exactly right, he can only produce what you tell him, he can't read minds

There are some things you should know about a 3D printer
Speed
It usually takes 24-36 hours tp produce a circular disc for my sr, good quality, nice finish, you can speed it up but you suffer quality
Power
You need constant power, if it is cut, it's stops, and you have to start again

Sanding
You can sand it to a curtain degree, but remember, it's plastic, so, it's brittle
Heat
It will warp if in hot climate with little , or no supporting beems
All in all, so long as you are accurate with measurements and design, it's great

Front former fits perfectly
My 3D buddy is now designing my nose cone

Fitted l/h rear engine mount, I am producing now in 3D other side, after that has finished I've got the outer engine mount for both side

I have cut down thrust tube to fit, the thrust tube has heat protection, it goes, thrust tube, air, fibre glass sheet, air, balsa

I've fitted nicelles cones, it lookes more like an SR71 now

Check fin alignment, then remove
It was a busy weekend

Spent all day on my SR
Brother came round to turn it round

So got working on it

On the winglet it came very close to not fitting, so had to use thin ply on both sides
I have the 3D inner engine for the R/H side, now printing outer engine R/H, to get quality it takes 36 hours
Thanks: boz
