Still working on the T-34 Russian tank.

I also thought I would try some more pictures of the other tanks standing against the section of wall. To give the impression of night time I set a background of black cloth, put the camera onto B and f. 6.3, turned all lights out and used a torch to illuminate the scene. Out of about 25 I am pleased with about 5. I think this one might look better in black & white.

Really stunning Harry, love the details like the graffiti really atmospheric. I had a play with the image, hope you don't mind.

Yes, thanks, Sarah Jane, really, I have been fiddling around trying to make these look like a contemporary photo taken in 1940, like some war correspondent came round the corner with his camera and had to get a couple of quick pictures off under gun fire. What you have done is great. I particularly like the third one down, how did you do it? Looks like it was found in an old magazine.
The tank is a Hetzer, the leaves in the gutter are the contents of a lemon and ginger herbal tea bag!
I will be doing a few more tonight when it gets dark.

This is the state of progress on the T 34 Russian tank, engine and transmission finished, the black things behind the driver's seat are batteries, there are even more beside the engine. Most of the detail will be covered up later, but I will be leaving all hatches open and having a hoist over the engine compartment, ready to lift the engine out.(name of apparatus, derek!)

Just downloaded the picture on my phone and used the editor to change to different effects, think the third one down is sepia. You could prolly do it on your own computer, open up in a picture editor and have a play :)
How creative, would never have thought to use herbal tea leaves as leaves! :)

It was the one with the subtle smudges, looks like an old, worn out picture, rather than sepia.
I have Photoshop Elements and when I get used to it can make a lot of different effects.
Tonight I have been doing some more pictures, this is a quick edit changed to b&w.

Difficult to find much photographic evidence but I think those black boxes you mention contained ammunition for the main gun.
The batteries for the electrical system were in the engine compartment according to the maintenance manual.

Yes, your right, The handles on the boxes looked like battery ' link bars' so I assumed they were batteries, I wondered why they needed do many batteries!

Ah yes, my bad- it is called "old photo" on my phone editing suite, was looking at the wrong picture :)

panzerfaust.ca/AFV%20interiors/t34a.html

there are some pictures of ammunition boxes and the interior on these two sites if it helps.

Ammo boxes, yes, but not for the main gun, these would be for hand-held or bracket-mounted machine guns. The main gun shells would be rather heavy, and loaded individually!
You 'might' get two shells into a box, but then it would need several bodies to feed the box in through a hatch, and into storage, in the confined space.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

it appears the boxes were for ammo 'storage'. There were racks in the back of the turret for 'ready use'.

Thanks all for the interest. I have found this site. Apparently it is a Polish Tank Museum. You can wander around and enter some of the tanks, including a T 34 without leaving your chair.
