Mick Reeves 80" hurricane was created by Ex-Member
been thinking about this whilst finishing off number 5.

i want to simulate the metal sheeting on the front of the fuselage, which would be the best way of doing this.

i had thought of cutting paper panels and gluing each of them on separately to simulate the ally panels.

would this work, or is there a better way.

help needed here chaps.

I've never used it, but I understand that litho plate is popular, because it is thin enough to bend, but thick enough to not flop about!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

That was my first thought, litho plate
We use litho plate to print the images onto drinks cans, if you do want some I might be able to get some, although it might have coca cola on it!!

Somebody called me 'pretentious' the other day.

I nearly choked on my latte.

Brown paper, stuck on with paste, Tough as old boots, and can take paint immediately, Litho will have to be annealed to bend, then stuck down with evil stick, good results, but is the plane worth it, Mind you, it's good to practise on, 'Twas cheap enough

i have 2 sides
no you dont,
yes i do,

I'm assuming you don't want to use metal sheet because of the weight .... lots of materials may be made to simulate the panels, but is it the multitude of rivets that are the big problem?
I had an 80 inch Mick Reeves Hurri' APX 40 years ago when I got my first serious radio ... the old Futaba 27MHz AM set.
I didn't build it ... I bought it off some copper named Gordon who lived near me on the Wirral.
I mention this in the hope that he'll see this thread one day & sign up ..... I'm hoping of course that he's still alive.
Anyway .... can you be more specific as to what you're wanting to do please? .... & forgive my ignorance.

Pol.

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

i am trying to get the separation where the fuselage changes from metal sheet to canvas on the hurricane looking better.
all my other builds i have just drawn on the panel lines, this time i want to make separate panels to do the same job.
and then add rivets

Tony
On here in the RC Jets category there is a nice picture posted by Murdoch of an F104 Starfighter covered in Mick Reeves 'metalcoat'. Looks an interesting material light but presumably a bit thicker than cooking foil.

If you don't want to go the brown paper route, although it does work well, then there is plumbers pipe lagging tape, it's adhesive, and chrome finish on the face, Panel lines and rivets can be impressed into it,
