well i dunno if i have done this right, but............................................................

the gaps between the panels of brown paper will be painted silver and them when the camo goes over it i can scrape it out to highlight each panel.
now do i have a play with pva rivets or not bother.

Tony
Will you really be able to scrape the camo paint out of the joint and leave the silver?
Technically joints are darker. I would have thought you would do better to find a way to smear a darker colour into the joint line after the camo.

well the fuselage looks a bit better now, the pva panel fixings look reasonably good and the panel lines show quiet well. :)

Would some self adhesive silver sign writers vinyl be of any use to you Tony? .... It may be a bit too shiny for what you need, but I've got some that you're welcome to & it would be easy to post. ;)

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

thanks for the offer pol, but it is sorted now.

slopped a base coat over the brown paper panels this morning.
looks ok i think.

you can see the panel lines and the pva panel fitting screws. :)

the i tried to make a canopy frame.
had the idea of curving some balsa and then gluing strips on the inside to take the glass, but it didn't work. i could not get the wood to curve enough without breaking.
then i had a brainwave (or not as the case may be) i cut some strips of thin plastic and glued some 1.5mm square strip on the inside. when whetted it curved easily round a can without breaking.
so the job then was to make up 4 strips for the frame.
then we started joining it all together.

the cross braces just hold it together temporarily for now.

then i used the same method to make the front section up.

the glass will glue in behind the strips on the frame and then have another strip glued inside them.
not too shabby. :)

I don't mean this to sound nasty, but it's taking on that "tatty" appearance that you need for a warbird.
I said to Garry when you delivered his, that I like the way you get the authentic look of an aircraft that's been battered about in a war situation.... I hate the way some commercial models come out looking like they've just come off the assembly line .... In fact, many of them are even "cleaner" than that. It just doesn't doesn't make them look realistic.

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

they aint rivets Alan, they represent the fixing screws that hold the panels on, not bothering with rivets as it isn't that good a model. :)

it looks worn cos it is a tatty build :) .
i find that if i paint it first, then if i have to alter things you get the patched look that a in service aircraft gets.
rather than spraying a finished model that then looks too new.
