Even a rubber powered Spitfire can be a challenge to get to fly well.
I built several Kiel Kraft Spitfires a very long time ago. Never got one to fly nicely.
My first "proper" rubber power flight (about 20 seconds) came from this.
A KK Auster Arrow. A pretty basic high wing type.
Out of curiosity some 40 years later I built a copy from the same plan.
Despite my best efforts it still only flew for about 20 seconds maximum.
Just keep building. The more you do the better you get at it.

I well remember the Auster Arrow. Dad and I bought one kit and I copy/built eight or so from the plan. Had lots of fun with them being 8yr to 10yr old.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Three VMC models - I just did an unboxing of the balsa basic cub from VMC - seems a nice kit. Look forward to seeing the progress on your models.

Welcome Robert. I recently moved from Glasgow to Swansea so it is good to re-populate the representation from up north!

I started building rubber-powered models when I was a nipper and promoted myself to RC in 1967 (yes, I really am "that" old) using McGregor single channel gear - when every take-off was a miracle and every landing was a crash. Even after so many years I still enjoy the hobby enormously, and I still learn something new almost every day - usually it's something I've been doing wrong for the longest time

Welcome, Tony.W. (that's three Tony's in here, now!)
Ah Wee McGregor - if you got 100 yards range you were doing well! I soon moved on to Futaba, the one before the M series, with three-wire servo's - and discovered reliability!
Whereabouts in the world are you? I'm in Cheshire, but we have members from other continents, too.
