That really looks like a beautiful kit. Just the wheels alone are wonderful. Its too bad that the cost of shipping has gone up to the point that its impossible for me to buy anything that isn't in Canada.....and even then its tough!

If you're really interested Reach, then I'm sure I could find a way of getting a kit to the USA at least at minimal postage costs.....
I've had a productive day in the model room today, starting with rough sanding of the other wheel:
I decided to slap some paint on both of them to see how they look and I'm quite pleased with the result. They need fine sanding, sealing and further painting, but they're on track to be finished for the BMFA Scale Indoor Nats in two weeks time:
In the meantime, the ailerons and wing fairing were shaped (I find the planing of balsa a very therapeutic pastime!):
The empennage was doped and after being touch dry, pinned down to prevent warping:
and the wing has been doped (it was covered yesterday and water shrunk this morning):
I'm using EzeDope for this one, mainly to prove that it's suitable for a competition scale model.

The fuselage is now covered and he whole model doped:
Following that I've been sheathing the tailwheel and main wheel legs with balsa. The technique is the same for all of the legs, I take the tapered laser cut strip prepared for each leg, score a centreline with a biro to accept the wire leg, taper the thickness of the strips, then roughly sand them to a circular cross section. The two prepared halves are then glued to the UC leg:
I'll leave it overnight to fully dry, then finish sand the leg, filling if necessary.
