So is crossing a busy road! At least, in F1, most of them are going in the same direction!

23500 tyres wer used in Formula 1 and they were recycled.Lewis Hamilton had the most poles and recorded the fastest pole lap in Monza.,see its not boring at all.

Let us see a new spec - where one set of tyres has to last a whole season!
And one engine, too.
I'll allow them to perform repairs, but the block, pistons, crank etc have to be the ones they started the year with!
Why? If your car tyres only lasted half an our, or your engine only took you 200 miles, you wouldn't be very happy! They want to get the costs down - there's a solution!!!

Runs for the bomb-shelter, with tin hat on!

Better still put a 30 mph restriction the tyres and engines would last foever, except the engones dont rev that low ,the tyres wouldnt warm up and there would be no racing, and thats what your scenario bring, in fact eric its silly  .In my FF 1600 days the formula ford festival was won every year by the 1 engine. It was called patch and built by Monster engines.A driver who some years ago from South Africa called Trevor Van Rooyan needed an engine for the festival. There was an engine laying under the bench that had thrown a rod and punched a hole in the block.Trevor stripped it down welded a patch over the hole and rebuilt the engine. When they put it on the Dyno they couldnt believe the readings ,For a 1600 Kent engine the standard OHV escort engine they were through the roof.Travor win the FF 1600 Festival and returned to SA .Every Minster gave patvh to a top FF1600 driver for the festival and it always won.Until they changed the engine spec and patch was not eligble --- a sad ending for patch boo hoo.

Granted certain changes need to be made, but, uncle Bernie and the FIA are holding F1 back in the dark ages! For a start tyre technology needs to be free. Second, allow a fixed amount of fuel for the season, not including practice. Third, allow energy recovery to be unlimited. Four, scrap drag reduction devices, but, every car must carry a flat immovable board at the rear, 1metre x .5metre. Five, introduce a, 'within the spirit' clause to the rules, this can stop 'trick' devices like flex front wings, blown diffusers etc.
F1 has brought us many new technologies over the years that have benifited us all, F1 must continue to be the leading edge of racing, but must not be seen as 'fuel wasters'.

I think the problem we have now is the designers study the rule book to see how they can get round the rules. Its extraordinaery to me that the teams all bring updates every single race throughout the season constantly improving the car.Ferrari have fallen behind because they relied on unlimited testing at there own track so there simulation technology is way behind other top teams because of the reduction in testing. If course the restricted testing has also prevented the growth of new talent coming through a deleted system also. They had to do something about overtaking and to me they now have it right.Every driver has equal opportunty to get within the 1 second difference to have the advantage of DRS,The tyres make irt interesting also because they need to be managed and it often makes for interesting racing towards tyhe end of a GP.It also means you dont know who has done the best job until after all the final pitstops so that keeps it interesting also.

Well the new cars are seeing the light of day, Red Bull and Lotus still have that bloody awful stepped nose! Yuck! I thought it was banned for this year. The Mclaren looks very pretty, as does the Ferrari. The Sauber looks very Teutonic.
