I have been to the Goodwood Festival of Speed twice. I would like to go to the revival.
In about 1964 NSU cars had an open test day at Goodwood, I drove a NSU TT 1000 round the circuit, followed by a drive in a NSU Wankel Spyder. At the time I had a provisional licence.

The Revival Meeting's great fun. You get to wear all your favourite clothes and not look out of place, plus you get to hear proper racing cars and bikes...... I'm envious of your experience in 64 harry.

Slightly off subject, but this is my favourite car of all time. I used to watch it at Goodwood, racing in the 50/60's, this was taken at the Festival of speed in 2010, It's obviously a Ferrari *** SWB, if I don't give the exact name/model forgive me because I could get it wrong.

The Revival of 2013 one hour programme was on ITV Four tonight, well worth catching up on, but far too short. Not enough coverage of the public and personalities to give the programme much real atmosphere.

The Ferrari looks very nice Harry.

My favourite car is the Jaguar XK R. I fell in love with it when I saw a green one at work; just missed buying it by a week when the owner passed away unexpectedly. Apparently it was designed by a female which would possibly explain the gorgeous lines of the machine without the aggressive or macho image of similar models.

I watched a channel 4? programme about F1 in the 60s and 70s concerning the struggle the drivers had to get safety features added to the tracks when the sport was in danger of loosing a driver almost every race. It culminated in the death of Jim Clark in a formula 2 car when he left the track at Hockenheim which had no safety barriers and was lined both sides with trees.

Moving on I can understand the reasons but an official reprimand to Webber for walking on the track and another for Alonso for stopping to pick him up does seem almost to have gone almost the other way.

Talking of giving lifts there was also a short clip of a Williams F1 being driven off a circuit down a track with what looked like the entire pit crew on board! - I think I counted 5 or 6. The cars were tougher then!

I think I had one of these, Andy - I'm sure it had pedals in it!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I once borrowed a big book about the Le Mans disaster of 1955. The description of the deaths and injuries caused by the Mercedes was quite detailed. Not for the faint-hearted.
The one hour documentary about this was shown this week as well.

Watched a programme on the Silverstone revival meeting yesterday racing GT40s most of which were genuine articles at £1M a piece.
The race was won by owner/driver Adrian Newey (Tchnical Director of Red Bull Racing?) in what was described as a perfectly prepared car. Well it would be wouldn't it?. ;)

Yes and it probably has had some Newy tweeks,I feel this season is all but over and am looking forward to next season and the new engines and rule changes.Hopefully everyone is on a level playing field but its still the ones who spend the most on research who come out on top.And it wont be until 2015 that Mclaren get the Honda engine so thats something to look forward to,.Ive been disapointed at Mclarens performance this year.If the can end last year with the best car does it mean by ending this year with a poor one next years will be good.
