Found a week spot on the cap 232 the rudder hinges, went flying this morning and had to pack up after three flights the tape rudder hinges were broken again, this is the third time it has happened the other times the bottom one parted this time two of the tree came apart,
I will put plastic ones with the metal pin in them,

Never had much faith in the tape hinges BB. I always use plasic ones and pin them as added security. Just a thought, but have you checked all the other control surfaces , if they are tape, could these be also suspect?

Have to (choke, gasp) agree with the Gasser - Tape hinges on something that size are a no-no. I use nylon hinges with the metal pin fulcrum and pin them with tooth picks for good measure. Dubro make a good 1/4 scale hinge with a metal pin fulcrum and I use them in anything bigger than about 3 foot W/S.

Even if it is not going to fly in the immediate future, I would change them. Otherwise, sods law will kick in and when it does fly you will have forgotten about them until the crash. Dont forget what can go wrong , will.:) :) :)

I snapped one before it even got fitted to a model. It had a moulded 'crease' in it, for the hinge-line, as did all it's partners in the box. They felt quite stiff to flex, so I was wiggling it between my fingers to 'ease' it, when - ping - , I had two pieces! The rest went into the bin as well. I mentioned it to the supplier, (LMS, no longer trading) and next time I went in, that brand had gone from the shelf, so perhaps it wasn't just me that complained.

Got home from the Nationals on Friday night took the cap 232 out this morning had one flight and the Moki stopped as it touched the ground i checked it and found it had no compression took it apart when i got home and found the head gasket had blown in two, made of alloy or something,
A bit of head scratching and i found some litho plate not as thick but i cut two new gaskets fitted them and it runs again ok.
Ill go flying tomorrow and see if it holds together.

Seems possible that the head gasket went because the motor was overheating before you put the internal ducting in BB. Moki's can have over heating problems, especially in high temps - they are not over endowed with cooling fins.

Took it out this morning and the Moki seems to be laking in power certainly not as powerful as before the head gasket went, BUT THAT IS MINOR TO WHAT HAPPEND on the second flight, THE WING FELL OFF, it is held to the fuslarge by four bolts and they were still in the holes, seems the bolts pulled out of the thredded nuts in the wing, can you believe it, i must have angered someone at sometime.
It went straight in nose first even snapped the 1-1/2" alloy tube that holds the wings on.

And i managed to crash my glider as well, this was my fault not checking the controls, i launched it ,it powered away i gave it some up elevator and it dived into the ground f
g idiot.
A lesson for Sarah check everything before you fly.

Very p*****d off :(

The Moki's power could be down because your home-made gasket is a thou or so thicker than the old one. This would reduce the compression ratio.
Or, of course, it might not be a perfect seal, so is leaking.

I have got the cap232 rebuilt this morning, just need the new wing tube and cowling that is ordered from SMC and it can go flying again, might have a go at the crumpled remains of the original cowl and see if i can do anything with it, off to a diy centre tomorrow maybe ill find some ally tube for the wing tube.
Took one of the litho plate head gaskets out of the moki 180 will see if it gives more power.
I have found a new gasket in the uk but it takes so long to get anything sent here.
Had a couple of cans of John Smiths tonight so i can use the cans to make new internal ducting for the motor now i know it works

That postage is a bit strong BB most of the world is pretty standard from my E mail dealings and its certainly no weight thats costing the money. You might be better off in future getting us to send it to you.
