Even glow engines converted to Petrol seem to vibrate more than they did, go figure!

Do it now, you may never get another chance

One for the scientists - does methanol vapour under pressure burn faster or slower than petrol vapour under pressure?

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Can't be certain without doing a lot of thermodynamic calculations Eric, but I'm fairly sure petrol will burn slower.
Petrol contains additives to make it burn slower .... this used to be in the form of lead compounds.
They do this so that the pistons in car engines get a slow continuous push down the bore rather than a sudden clout at the top of the stroke.

Pol.
Edit .... This post is wrong .... I've corrected myself a few posts down.

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

I'm under correction here, but Petrol engines generally need less compression than Methanol, one of the things you have to do when converting is reduce the Compression ratio. When converting cars to run on Meth you generally have to give it masses of extra advance which would mean that Meth burns slower.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

You could be correct Klippy, I'm just guessing that petrol is deliberately slowed down .... I suppose the different compression ratio and ignition timing might be down to a different ignition temperature, flash point or fire point ....

If I can find the time I'll look into it further.

You are very much correct Klippy ... I shall go to the back of the class & hang my head in shame.... I hope my old chemistry tutor doesn't read this. :(
"Methanol is far more difficult to ignite than gasoline and burns about 60% slower"

It would seem the Moki 180 is a little underpowered for the Cap 232 it just will not hold the vertical prop hang, im up to a 18x8 prop but want to try an 18x10 or even 18x12 to see if i can get that little bit extra from it
But cannot find a APC prop that size, anybody know where i can get them :( :(

If it seems to be under-powered, you might be over-propping it. Come down an inch in diameter, and see if it helps!

I was in the pits with the Moki ticking over just about to wheel it out to the flight line WHEN FOR NO REASON AT ALL AND ALL ON IT'S OWN IT REVED UP AND ALL THE CONTROL SURFACES WERE FLAPING ABOUT it last for 3/4 seconds then went back to normal.
I did another range check and everything seemed ok so i flew it , no problems im pleased to say
But a bit off putting after all thats gone on
