anyone got any coloured tissue, may at least make it look nice, as for dope, can it even be sent mail order? and i have never just covered a model, i always garnet paper after final sanding, and sanding seal the structure, no wonder it used to take ages, :P i also only used shrinking dope as Andy says50/50, i use non shrinking dope after that, everyone will have a differant method though, its the way you get taught,

i have 2 sides
no you dont,
yes i do,

Tish over film, Andy? I've heard it done the other way around, film over tish, to protect it against 'dings', while the tish provides the stiffer finish.
I wouldn't have thought that cellulose dope would bond to film very well, but what do I know? :P

I've not used the method personally, but it's popular amongst the duration boys. Apparently it gives the lightest/strongest combination. If you overlap the tissue at the edges so that it sticks to itself, the dope is strong enough to prevent it lifting off the film. It's been used successfully for around 25 years as far as I can remember.

A phrase I use on my student pilots is appropriate here: 'You know what you've got to do and the only way to learn how to do it is to screw it up on your own". So go to it with confidence and have fun, we've all been there!

.....and don't forget Mike Stuart's site. His descriptions of how to do it are well illustrated. Here's the page on covering fuselages:

I don't have any direct experience of the product, but I have a feeling that it was reviewed in one of the mags I've seen recently. I'll post when I can find it. It does seem to take one of the joys of aeromodelling away, however. They call it 'glue sniffing' now, but we used to call it 'Aeromodelling"! ;-)

Spoken like a true modeller!! its only a joy to us, to others if you do not have a dedicated room for the hobby, its a pain in the nose, ive even banned the wife from removing her nail varnish in the front room, now, she has to sit in the bathroom, with the window open, dont forget Sarah, if you go this route, you will need a nice flat brush for the process, let me know, there is a shop near me that still stocks these things, i forgot all about it, he even stocks dope!! but the smelly stuff, not this,
