Those of us who cruise the net will have seen this kit on offer on many sites, I like biplanes and I'm a sucker for an inverted engine layout.
I think many hundreds will have been sold but I wonder how many will actually fly. Tim Hooper did one over on RCM&E but he varied from the supplied materials in a lot of areas, I'm going to try and document my build as clearly as possible.

....and when you've done it, how about joining Septic's 'buddy build' of the Dennis Bryant hawker Fury which starts in October...

Sadly I think it's going to be 'stand off' at the very best, Tim had to add a whole lot of detail and make a new undercarriage, I'm only going to use what's in the kit.Squirrelnet wrote: Looks like a nice project. I will be following with interest. I do like a nice Moth

Mr Sephton I think I hate you! I see some of the plans are 60", nice, is there a kit maybe?Andy Sephton wrote: when you've done it, how about joining Septic's 'buddy build' of the Dennis Bryant hawker Fury which starts in October...

And no instructions! Definitely not for the beginner then, just 6 sides (3 pages) of pictures.
The first decision, Glow or Electric. The legend A1EP/GP at the top left would appear to indicate that there are different bulkheads to be used.

Sure enough the sheet showing the part numbers shows 2 different bulkheads. A Brownie point here, not all manufacturers provide a reference sheet, Goldberg for example!
At this point I made the decision to Epoxy all front bulkhead parts, I only use Araldite 24hr since I have had problems with most local epoxys'.
So first job glue A1GP together since I'm a committed 'oily hand'.
My first photo should have been a pile of laser cut sheets, it is instead the bottom fuselage former firmly secured to the building board!

Sarik do a pack of laser cut parts, plan, spinner and cowl for the Dennis Bryant hawker Fury Mk 1.... although there have been reports that the cowl and spinner are not quite right. You can buy the bits separately:

Septic's (Danny Fenton) thread on RCM&E starts here:

I've acquired a plan and am currently building a 25" rubber FF version of the aircraft to get an idea of what I need to do. I'm aiming to join the build and will post on here as well when I do. The model will probably be scratch built rather than with laser cut parts as I will be making a number of mods to the plan. I also aim to produce my own cowl and spinner.

Main formers 1,2 and 3 in place, A1 is epoxied, I thought I was going to cyano the others but the stuff I have won't work, wicks into the grain but won't stick, so I'm going with aliphatic glue, just takes longer.
Another disappearing photo, I thought I was going to show you gluing A1 -3 nicely square.

As can be seen here, study the back of the sheet and use a blade to complete the cut. Then there's the tabs, they're there so that bits don't fall out during removal from the cutter and while packaging. I study the back of the sheet first and press my blade against each tab, about half way through, then turn over and repeat, the parts will push out very easily. Without cracking or breaking.
NOTE, many of the parts have lightening holes cut in them that have to be cut out, Save the holes, you might need them later!

Thanks for the 'heads up' Tony, maybe they've learned that 'Comms is King' a lady by the name of Janet emailed me by return and saidTHE BLACKBIRD wrote: Be interesting to see how long or if Sarik answer you Tony, I could not get a reply, only after several chasing emails did I get a response
"Hi Tony
Thank you for your message.
We will get back to you when we put the kit together to work out the P&P costs to South Africa.
Regards
Janet"
I pointed out that this could put the cost out of reach and she said
"Hi Tony
If you want we will still put the order together to work out the postage with no obligation to buy.
regards
Janet"
I think that's really awesome!
