Surprisingly the props although a small diameter (3") are relatively quite a coarse pitch (3.5").
No so many model plane props have a pitch greater than their diameter.

Just one letter wrong it should have be or rather than of - In my defence they are adjacent letters on the key board!
The reason for including 'direct drive' was that a geared motor can drive coarse pitch props similar to rubber.

Nice weather this morning so I got out the A350 as it had not flown for quite a while - 9 months?
Everything worked no problem and there was virtually no wind at the field and some nice puffy clouds at altitude.
Of course when I actually launched it there was a significant puff of wind from the wrong direction so it went off down wind - I should have been more aware of likely gusts arising from those nice fluffy (thermal) clouds.
It did not gain sufficient flying speed, sank and dropped the right wing.
Broke off the nacelle and disrupted the wing spar.
The right nacelle itself also suffered.
In addition the whole front fuselage broke off but exactly at a construction joint so that will be just a simple glue job.
Not sure exactly how to repair the wing and nacelle but I don't think glue alone will do it!
The other aspect is the right wing tended to drop first anyway (significant right trim is shown in the model memory) so it really doesn't want to end up with any increase in weight.
Still if you can't risk it - don't fly it!

Now part disassembled along side the damaged wing.
Note how tiny the fan/prop is!
There are two major problems
1. The motor wires are 'continuous' yet run inside the nacelle pylon and with nothing like enough 'slack' to make a join after the nacelle is in place.
Originally the wires were fixed to the motor first and then threaded thought the pylon, through wing and then soldered to the ESCs in the centre section under the fuselage.
2. The underside balsa wing spar has broken just inboard of the nacelle and the associated printed rib is internally seriously disrupted. On a wing where virtually all the loads are taken by the skin a simple rib replacement is not that easy.
It will take a bit of care not only to restore the strength to this very light structure but also to avoid building in any twist to what is a pretty high aspect ratio wing.
Hopefully it will all go back together.
