A control line stunter

With my usual hoarding I actually have a 35meg Futaba TX and RX that uses 5 wire servos.
The wiring harnesses required are a thing to behold!
The receiver uses a 5 cell DEAC, remember them!
The TX has a built in mains charger for its NiCds and an outlet to charge the DEAC.
I paid £5 for it at a car boot.
I hate the think what the relative cost would have been when new.

Iv dug it out and started working on it again, ill finish the wing off  first, fitted the bell crank and pull pull wires so the wing is ready to cover after sanding the centre sheeting
 
 
I have some nylon i was is going to cover the wings and tail plane in then dope it and paint it, just like i did when flying competitions in the 1950s 60s, its powered by a Merco 35 same as i always used. just silver soldered the pushrod from the bell crank the the flap and run the blowlamp over the end of my finger, double ouch 

It definitely had a separate thread as did my other stunt model maybe they were both on the same thread, its been built quite a while now
I found all the pieces so im putting it together starting with the pushrods
 
 
Again silver soldering and managed to scorch it 
popped the top on
 
And glued the wing in place
 
so thats it for today

Having a bad day with pain but iv been out and glued the tail feathers on and connected the motor ESC and lipo to the glider so its all up and running
 
And iv had these delivered from Ebay, a compressor 3 air brushes and other pits and pieces 
 
All for £50 so im pleased with that

Hmmmm having now got the equipment to paint the stunt model im thinking maybe cover it in film, as one of the most important aspects of these models is to get them in the 42 oz or below region finished to fly good aerobatics with the square corners
To cover it in nylon then 3 coats of dope and then 2 coats of paint finished of with a coat of fuel proofer takes some doing i always used to struggle getting them down to that weight a lifetime ago
Just slap some film on it fuel proof the engine bay job done
Im sitting here doing this with a collar on that is filled with something i put it in the microwave for 3 minutes then onto my neck, see i it helps at all, dont know whats in it but god it stinks 

Been looking on leeds model shop site and Orocover is running between £22- 30 quid for 2M roll   and its going to need 3 rolls as in different colours, so i popped the model on the scales to see how it was coming out, 35 ozs with the engine in, so it needs a silencer a pair of wheels so even with the covering dope and pain it should be in around the 43 oz mark
I dont suppose the paint will be cheap and iv no idea what is used to fuel proof a model these days 
 

I cannot remember ever trying Poly C Tony but i think im leaning towards it for fuel proofing, and some acrylic water based paint, my daughter in law Johns wife was supposed to be sending me all his gear, several airbrushes loads of paints and other stuff but it never got sent
I painted the 132" Lancaster i did in Cyprus using an old badger airbrush i had had since the 80s
Only 10m bottles of Tamiya pain are not going to go far
