My rule is to test any servo before installation, then again as soon as I make any joint to it and then twice more before anything is permanently built in. Colour coded servo wire?
Great care is needed wiring up multiple pin wing connectors!
I have "fried" ESCs, motors and even a couple of RXs but never, so far, a servo tester.

the multi meter which I know nothing about
Most have three sockets, the common, the voltage and the current. The voltage is high resistance, the current is low resistance (ie short circuit). Never leave the lead in the current one, its too easy to just pick them up & voila.........smoke.

Iv got all the wiring installed and working ok, just got the wings to finish off then get it ready for glassing the fuselage, think ill use tape for hinges, never used it before but it seems most glider flyers use it

Having said all that I do tend to use full length "top tape" hinge as it not only seals the joint but provides a smooth top surface which is more critical for aerodynamics than the under side. It is also one of the reasons I favour short ailerons out towards the wing tip as they are less effected by any wing bending!
The example I quote for top tape ailerons is with my Depron Super Cub. Built in 2017 and still with its original tape.
Under the paint you are hard put to see or even feel the aileron hinge line.

The first thing i did after getting the wing off the shelf was to poke my finger through it, then i marked the ply cut the tried the wing on the fuselage the plug would not engage with the other half, this wing has been on and off several times and was always in line, when i glued it all in place originally the wing was in place on the fuselage and all was connected
So having corrected that wing i got the other one and it slid on ok
Only thing wrong was my finger went through it
Using light weight competition balsa to keep the weight down is not a good idea for me i think
Surprising just how much glue is used to build this
I started with the new large bottle and iv just put all the remaining contents into the small one, it just filled it

Finally got the wings done with no finger holes poked in and the ply facings on the ends, just the airbrakes to do, if i do them, i dont suppose they do much stopping
loooong narrow wings 2M each and only 150mm wide
