Well - I've upset BB again, by posting Poly's cafe address again - and I've upset David by telling him I posted a shorter version of his latest joke about a month ago, when it was relevant (although I didn't put that bit).
Both have been deleted, and I've got a pm from bb saying don't do it!
Boats - rocking .....

Well guys , im all for this site but Im not into trying to upset the OTHER site.
I dont see a problem from their behalf for the posting of a site address as Its been done before. but if one does it be it on his own head if hes banned from the other site...
Ive joined to be able to say what I like here ,thats why IM here not through spite.
Oh and to bitch about that KERR fella , wayne I think his real name is... :woohoo:

Quite agree Kiwi, They are a great site but the rules are a bit strict for some. ... We'll get criticized at some point for being rude or offesive.
That's why we keep saying "Parental Guidance Advised"

I'm talking to myself again :woohoo:
Powerless Poly is me (Polyphilla) but registered as a standard member so that I can see the system the way everyone else does.
It's far more complex viewed from the admin bench.....we even have a staff room.
We obviously expect to need staff if the place gets busy (Fingers crossed)

Phil.

I remember after you left the other side phil they replaced you with another moderator . He modded me one night for refering to a product as crap. In NZ it means the same as where you are and is betterb then saying a poor product only good for a dunny.
The best part was when he PMed me and i replied asking why crap was such a offensive
word he sent back quite an offensive reply about my nationality and how our ancestors arrived here in the first place..... HMMM double standards .

That does surprise me Kiwi .... that would be abusive ... "crap" can be heard on telly at any time of day.
Can you imagine what a stir it caused on that forum when I, as a moderator, pointed out to someone that a string of keyboard characters isn't what causes harm .... it's the intended insult or abuse that counts.
Sometimes swear words can be bloody good adjectives or adverbs for which there are no suitable substitutes...... many jokes just wouldn't work without them.

I also said .... this is the good bit,
There is a village in Austria called " Fucking ".

Now what do we do about this? ... To refuse to say the name of that village is a bit racist towards the people who live there.

Read the link, it's hilarious  even the German beer called "Hell"... but guess where it's made. :silly: They were granted permission to use the name you can imagine in 2010.

Can you see what I mean about the "intent" being the problem, not the letters.

Edit 10 / 09 / 11 I should point out that using that word for the purpose of swearing is a bit much for in here. The odd occassion may get overlooked but please don't overdo it.

Well,as I tried to argue it out as constructively as possible and got thrown off the forum twice for doing it there is a very fine line between moderation and censorship, the former is the norm, the latter the act of a control freak.
To run a forum full of everyday working folks who do not usually go out of their way to use foul language and try to get them to act like a Quaker school sunday afternoon bible class is not on, the zero tolerance attitude is losing them a lot of their best model makers but they dont care.
As I had it explained to me they are not bothered in the least about the individual, their concern is the whole of the membership base and the number of mags they sell, lose a few and gain a few they dont care about the members or their views as long as they keep selling mags, and that came from the top.
