Alternatively, "CWHX044" is also a specific call sign/registration for a position-only flight frequently tracked operating near the United Kingdom coastline (such as Anglesey)

I can't find any info and there are no images!

· Today is a moment for the history books - the first operation of a new EVTOL prototype into Blackbushe. Various comments on Facebook about it not having the range to go the extra couple of miles to Farnborough.

After nearly an hour of careful prising I discovered it was full of what most would describe as junk however there were two objects that I did immediately recognise.
A piston wrist pin from a Bristol Jupiter 9 cylinder radial.
And an exhaust valve from the same engine.
How am I so sure of their lineage?
In 1932 my Dad went to do an engineering apprenticeship with Saurer Ag then in the German speaking part of Switzerland and best known making trucks with their own diesel engines renowned for being able to run at full power all day when climbing up Alpine passes. They also built the 500hp Bristol Jupiter 9 cylinder radial aero engine under licence.
As an apprentice his main interest was in the design of diesel engines but it did not stop him from "acquiring" some Jupiter parts! Both the pin and valve appear to be unused but may have had manufacturing defects.
Although he was never a truly fluent German speaker he did understand the meaning of German technical engineering terms. A skill that was put to use both in the UK and USA when deciphering German technical drawings captured after the war particularly when relating to high performance anti tank guns.
As a Brit in Switzerland he both learned to ski and climbed mountains, I even have his old wooden skis and ice axe! He also drove a an MG TA sports car. During this period he dated my Mum including a road trip in th MG to Switzerland!
In a rare moment after his death she commented that as an athletic 6 footer with a sports car "he cut a very dashing figure".
Not what you tend to think of your parents!

The ground is so dry it hisses as the drops touch down!
Back to scorching by Wednesday, though, according to the forecast!

We ambled down to the beach, the tide was out so we went out on a sand-bar with a good view. I put my camera on a monopod and filmed moments that interested me. Of course being an air show there were the folk with lenses 1m long. There were also kids building sandcastles rather than looking up.
There was quite a wind so some noise. I got a bit better with the camera as the day went on. Rather a challenge tracking a Typhoon traversing the length of the bay in a dozen seconds. I managed to get it all through post processing the same evening. I decided not to edit down the Typhoon session but my real focus was the older and slower.
The big thing for me was observing the time scale of the control response. RC is compressed, reality is a slower dance even for those pilots controlling their sticks for acrobatics. It is better directly on YouTube than the restricted view in Aeromodellers.

Going on to a sand-bar seems like a good idea, but you have to know the area, it might be a quick-sand, and with the HUGE tidal range in the UK, you can easily find yourself surrounded by water.
