Think iv got all the bits in the box with a sheet of card over the top
Now ill fold the sides down
To lower the height. ill make a 2x1 frame around the top to give it a bit of strength
Its big and awkward to handle so ill come up with a couple of handles, and it feels heavy

What to do with my models and radio gear?
They wouldn't promise to look after and take care of them - so I bought a load of ply and timber, and made two boxes that they would all fit into, with external frames to act as handles - and packed everything in, screwed the lids down, and crossed all extremities.
They moved house.
About 8 months later, I got leave again, and went to the new house. When I'd found it, I got the usual greeting - "Oh it's you, when do you go back. Sit down and shut up, Coronation street is starting". Dad was at work, of course!
Next day, I found where they'd put my model boxes - down at the bottom of the garden - outside. When I'd shifted stuff around to get to them, I found they'd been thrown or dumped from a great height, this way up signs ignored, the ply and frames had all split, and everything inside was soaked and ruined.
I might just as well have just chucked them into the bin in the first place, and saved myself the expense and work of making the boxes.
I didn't go 'home' again until I left the R.N., and got onto the housing register ASAP. I had to live with them in a tiny room for about six months, before I was offered a council flat, which I grabbed!

got some wood this morning and made the frame for the top of the box
Had to make an adjustment to the lid in one corner
So almost there with it, just got to fit the handles and add stuffing between the model and the frame

I have every time i flew back to Cyprus used the special luggage thingy and have always had to go to a different place to collect it after getting my case from the luggage round about
Still thinking whether to use the helper service at the SA end as the big buck box will be awkward to handle with a case or another box as well, may as well let them push me in a wheelchair and let them struggle with the boxes

Made 8 6mm ply plates to go inside and outside the box glued and stapled to the top frame and cardboard
For the rope handles to go through
I put a sheet of card on the top
Then the lid
Recon thats about it, just got to weigh it now

I am not sure I would like to manage that box as well as any luggage.
I managed to collapse whilst dragging just one case onto a ferry going to the isle of Muck!
