I thought I had to stick to the manufacturers recommended props.
I wasn't sure about going over 6 either. I ran a higher pitch on an electric one, once. It just raced around the sky too much.

Make sure that you have ground clearance for the prop though.
Have a nice Day, unless I don't like you.

I should hopefully get the covering tomorrow, although it was meant to be today. Then I can get on with putting it all together.
I bought some fuel proofing paint and painted the interior and all of the front end with it. The firewall and surrounding were already pretty well fuel proofed with epoxy, so I left that in place and just coated it.
While I was waiting on the postman, I finished repairing a flitetest simple scout that I started in 2020, that got damaged in the house move.

The previous mount had holes drilled, but it was too narrow, so I've ordered one that fits.
Is it a safe bet to drill the holes on the new mount in the same position as the old one?
Or is there a way to work out the engine position? I'm assuming the original build instructions would have had some guide for it.

Put the motor upside down on the mount, if it will fit - so the cylinder is between the arms - that gives you a clear access for drilling the bolt-holes.
Drill ONE hole, bolt the motor on, check it is square on the mount, and the right distance - then drill the other holes.
Put the motor the right way up and bolt it on, then make a card (corn-flakes box?) mock-up of the cowl, to get the holes in the right places.
Make the cowl hole a lot smaller than that required, and check it is in the right place! Then you can 'ease' it sideways a bit if needed, before opening it up.
Consider how you are going to get at the carby in case it needs adjusting.
Will the cowl fit when the motor is in place?

Or go electric, and save all this hassle! [badass]

I did the bottom fine, but I didn’t think about the side enough. I want the top half to be white, so started with the blue bottom half. However I now realise I should have done white down the side to cover the hole, then blue on top of that.
Oh well, live and learn. I should be able to get the blue off and try again.

Try it with a scrap bit, to save wasting expensive heat-shirink.

I’m going to plan it a bit better before I try again. I might make a template from card first.
