Not to worry as i dont suppose it will ever get flown, probably end up in the bin when i depart this existence
When i mixed the resin for the wing tubes i thought one of the pumps i use to deliver the exact amounts of each was not quite right, it pumped the resin in but did not feel right
Today the tubes are as sticky as hell not hard   all have to be done again if i can get the sticky off the carbon tubes
I took the pump apart and the internals have fallen apart   its only been used a couple of times
The luck never fades

Done a little more, but i dropped a goolie today i turned the model plane fuel filler pump on to fill the tank on the heater
And straight away forgot about it, i had also turned the heater on so the noise from that covered the sound of the pump
The first i knew about it was a smell, i looked around ( i had been looking down at the bench as i always stand when im modelling )
And the shed was full of haze, looked at the heater and saw big clouds of smoke rising from it
Then realised what i had done but the pump had already turned itself off, dont know if its burnt out or not as i have not tried it
This is the second time iv done it, first not to bad as the heater cover was on and the diesel ran on the floor this time its all in the heater as i had not replaced the cover from it the repairs a while ago
S every time it now runs the shed fills with fumes and my clothes stink of it, but i run it with the door open, Brrrr
Cut some ribs from 3mm ply to fit over the wing tubes, the rest will be 2mm balsa

Im still being choked by the fumes from the heater, they dont seem to be getting any better

You cannot really see how bad it is with the photo
Cut the other ribs for the other wing and glued them all to the wing tubes using polythene glue, it expands and fills any gaps

I sorted some 3mm balsa for 4 ribs and all the 1.5mm balsa i had to sandwich together with the 2 ply templates, manage to get 19 ribs, think it needs around 50 all told

ill have to order more balsa and the 9mm spruce for the spars, dont know whether to wait until i get back from Africa, if i get back

The wing tubes and ribs worked out ok, all solid and slide on and off the carbon tubes easily

So thoughts go to the wings, i cut a template for the end rib on the 2M wing, im building it all in one go but it will part in the middle around the 1M mark, building it all different to the plan
The titchy end rib

The bench is not long enough for the wing so ill extend it, the way i build my benches makes that easy

Just slide wood underneath the plasterboard

And lay a piece of plasterboard on top

All ready to build when my new wood order arrives

The order i have just received from Slec was not what i was expecting   im sure i ordered spruce in 1/8th x 1/4 and  1/8 x 3/8th or 3mm x 6mm and 3mm x 9mm
What i got was all 1/16th in both lot, so i doubled it all up yesterday so i could get on
Today i ordered it again making sure it was the right size
Also ordered some trailing edge boy that is expensive like nearly 4 quid a length
Just cheaper to buy ready to fly models these days

Started to build the first of the four panels

Joining 2 sheets 1.5mm balsa to cover the top of the wing while its still pinned in position with the washout

Glued up and lifted off the plan, they are proving difficult to build, or i am finding it difficult

You got to see if it fits, just 3 more panels

Cutting the 30 odd ribs for the outer panel

Way to fiddly for my hands, and it bloody frustrating to find a couple of the rib blacks ore short

Im having problems with these wings   they are very testing of my self control
All the ribs i cut yesterday are no good i had the root and tip templates off the plan but it was miles out when i trie to fit them, had to recut and offer each one and
Got there in the end and copied them for the other wing

They are to small for my mitts to work on

Looks very nice.
Just remember the wing of an ASW 17 is not an easy subject - at any size!

Finally got to sleep around half two this morning, woke up sweating from a bad bad nightmare so went out to the shed at 5am and did some more
Sheeted the top of the second panel

Put the tape on it to show the length

If this comes out true i will be very surprised

Just ordered from Leeds Model Shop  two connectors for the wing to fuselage servo connections and about two hours after i ordered them i spotted some frames for the connectors to fit in so ordered them as well
They have just arrived in the same packet with two invoices and postage charged twice

That wing has a terrifying aspect ratio!
One can imagine it in an all glass/carbon fibre construction but lets just hope the design is sound when in wood.

Built-in variable dihedral!  :-)

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!
