Do you think you have the hang of building Laceys now then Andy.
I can imagine you starting a production line for RTF Laceys. :P :P :P :P

The empennage is now off the board with the edges tidied - and at the same time, I noticed that I'd missed the cross-piece at the top of the rudder! I've also part-tidied the fuselage.

Next jobs will be cutting wing ribs and doing some design work on the front of the fuselage.....

Yesterday's work included cutting out a ply wing rib template; rib cutting has begun in earnest!

...and before anyone comments or suggests it, I don't get on with the sandwich method of rib creation. I prefer to cut them individually, pin them together and then give them a final touch-up with a sanding block.

Nice Imperial measurements. ;)
And there is nothing wrong doing ribs like that!

Not much modelling time available today (currently sorting artwork for an exhibition in Stevenage at the end of the month, but more of that in another thread nearer the time....), but I did manage to finish cutting the wing ribs and played around with CAD to work out the shapes of the 1/8" balsa pieces I'll need to build up the nose shape. The latter is not yet complete!

The CAD work remains as it was, but over the past couple of days, I've built the wing, taking it off the board yesterday.

Spar jigs getting laid down using a straight edge:

Spars and TE have been jigged in position, ribs are now added:

All ribs in position, top spars and LE added:

The following are in monochrome as the colour pics were a bit washed out.

Off the board and ready for sanding, adding accoutrements and ailerons:

I've had some non-aeromodelling priorities over the last few days, but I was going stir-crazy this afternoon, so I took time out to make some formers:

One of the nice things about a boringly square aeroplane is that all the bits are boringly square as well, and therefore, they go together easily!

All I managed to do yesterday and today was cut a form from 1/8" balsa over which to laminate the canopy frame from two strips of 1/8" x 1/16":

It's more than I got done today, I've stalled, waiting for postie to deliver some short Y-leads! I've got plenty of long and very long ones, but no little short ones!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Lacey is progressing well. I like your use of jigs to keep things square, I tend to get a bit too freestyle sometimes [badass]

How long have you had that brass modelling knife? Mine must be 40 years old or more (if I can remember where I last left it - use Swann Morton scalpels 90% of the time)
Mike

The older I get, the better I was!
